The Hun River has the most abundant water resources in Liaoning province.The Hun River will freeze when winter arrives.At present,the Hun River has just play a natural ecological landscape role,it did not show the advantages of natural waterway channel and it also did not form a complete river traffic system.The foreign has some new theory and practical achievements of icebreaker,but our country has just star in the theoretical stage.This paper use literature survey method,field investigation,system analysis,problem induction method and so on to study the development of the icebreaker in the whole world and it analysis the icebreaker theory.Then the paper summarize the theory of inland river icebreaker and verify theoretical feasibility according to the river features,climatic characteristics and ice features about the Hun River.After that,the paper finished the design of the inland river boat and did some effect show according to the theory of the inland river icebreaker.This paper propose a concept plan that suitable for inland river navigation in northern cities from the design point of view.In this concept design,the boat is designed for the Hun River and has the ability to break the 300 mm thick ice.The boat has a cone bow with a catamaran body,and the boat uses the upward ice-breaking method.When the boat breaks ice,the cone bow can move under the ice and rely on buoyancy to top up the ice,then the boat can separate the ice.The boat has the ability to break the ice,and it can open up the waterway and break some thicker ice with a auxiliary ice-breaking device.
