Activated carbon is a kind of environmental friendly adsorbent.In this study,commercial activated carbon and hydrophobic organic material-carbaryl were choosed as the raw material and adsorbent,separately.Several modified method was used on raw material to obtain adsorbents such as acid and alkali modification?oxidation modification and high temperature modification under the protection of nitrogen(deoxidization modification).Gas adsorption analyzer,boehm titration,scanning electron microscope(SEM)and fourier transformed infrared spectroscopy(FTIR)were applied to examine their surface physicochemical properties.To supply theoretical basis for emergency processing carbaryl pollution,factors such as carbaryl initial concentration a n d p H v a l u e s w h i c h m a y h a v e i n f l u e n c e o n a d s o r p t i v e capacity on carbaryl were explored.(1)According to adsorption experiment,high temp erature modification was the best method among the three modification methods for that raw materials after high temperature modification show excellent adsorption capacity for carbaryl while raw materials after oxidation modification largely decreased the adsorption capacity and acid and alkali modification on raw materials hardly has any change on its adsorption capacity on carbaryl.(2)To study midification temperature influence on dasorption capacity of carbaryl,different high temperature such as 300?450?600?800 ?was used to modify raw materials under the protection of nitrogen.Gas adsorption analyzer,boehm titration,scanning electron microscope(SEM)and fourier transformed infrared spectroscopy(FTIR)were applied to examine their surface physicochemical properties which found that high temperature modification under the protection of nitrogen can decrease oxgyen content and increase pore number and specific surface area remarkably.the high temperature of 800 ?can destroy raw material pore structure and result in decrease on specific surface area.(3)Carbaryl adsorption capacity of unmodified activated carbon and activated carbons after high temperature modification under 300?450?600?800?were 327?392?423?444?264 mg/g,respectively which shows that 600 is the best modification temperature.In addition,it is found that ?pH values has much infuence on adsortive capacity on carbaryl because of pHpzc of activated carbon.
