The aim of the arterial coordination control is to decrease the traffic delay of the vehicles at intersections,and more vehicles can pass the intersections without any stop.In the past research,most of the research about arterial coordination control was focused on urban road network,but in this paper,the main point is to research on the Jingang Road in the Dayaowan port area.Jingang Road is one of the most important roads for the vehicles to go inside and outside of the port area and plays an important role in the process of collecting and distributing cargoes for the port.Unlike urban road network,there are not only common cars in the port area,also some trucks,whose speed is slower and variation range is smaller compared with cars.The common speed is usually between 20-35km/h.The success of arterial coordination control will be helpful to reduce queue length and delay and to increase the work efficiency in the port area.In this paper,firstly the basic theory of coordination control was introduced,including concept and category of traffic control,concept and parameter of arterial coordination control,the way of control and evaluation indicators.According to the investigation of traffic data at three adjacent intersections in the Jingang Road,Jingang 10 Road,Jingang 11 Road and Chuangye 1 road respectively,the data was obtained and analyzed.In slack hours,there are less cars in the port area,so arterial coordination control is achieved by the inductive control.However,the volume of vehicles obtain even exceed the road capacity on-peak time,so fixed-time control is used.Considering the variation of speed during the process of starting or stopping the cars,speed of vehicles was analyzed when they travel between different intersections and introduced an optimization method of phase difference based on speed variation.Finally,coordination control scheme is simulated by simulation software,Vissim.After getting the simulation results,the difference after using optimization method is easy to see,from which it is clear that arterial coordination control is efficient and effective.
