With the improvement of living standards, the field of business aircraft is rapidly expanding and passenger capacity of commercial aircraft is also rising. In addition to the convenience and comfort, passengers are more concerned about the safety and reliability of the aircraft.During aircraft landing, passengers in side-facing seats suffer high risks of injury in emergency braking. Therefore,it is of great significance to study the injury prevention of occupant seated in aircraft side-facing seats in emergency braking of launching and landing.A finite element simulation analysis procedure was used in this study.According to the sled test, the side-facing seat restraint system model was established. The simulation data was compared to the sled test data for model verification. After model verification, based on the orthogonal experimental design method, the effects of seat belt anchorage locations and armrest height on the occupant injury were investigated firstly.Statistical significance of every restraint system parameter on the occupant injury was analyzed, and the significant parameters were selected to analyze the influence trends.Secondly, the interaction of two occupants in different seating distances was researched for Multi-occupant.At the same time, the characteristics of injury between occupants seated in different positions were compared and analyzed. The seat belt anchorage locations and the armrest height parameters for Multi-occupant simulations were selected according to the results of optimizing the occupant injury parameters. Finally,Based on the seat belt anchorage locations and the armrest height parameters of optimization and experiment, the protective effect of seatbelt airbag on occupant was researched. Results showed that the upper hanging point location and the left belt anchor location, both in y direction, were the dominant factors affecting the injury risks of head, neck and pelvis, and armrest height was the dominant factor affecting the injury risks of neck and abdomen. In general, seat belt hanging point and left anchor point which were close to occupant centerline as well as the higher armrest could lower the risks of occupant injury.Multi-occupant study showed that the injury risks of head, neck and thorax of the occupant who was far away from armrest were more serious than the occupant near armrest, and the injury risks of the abdomen and pelvis of the occupant near armrest were more serious than the occupant far away from armrest. Moreover, when the contact between adjacent occupants occurred, increasing the distance between occupants could decrease the risks of occupant injury. What's more, the seatbelt airbag could reduce the movement of the head and neck, and effectively reduce the injury risks of head and neck, but had little effect on the injury of other parts of the occupant.
