The increasing scarcity of land resources makes human exploration step into the depths of the ocean.As the indispensable underwater vehicles,significant attention is paid to the research on deep-sea manned submersibles.This article is based on the major national special project "Study on the Concept Design of Lightweight Operating Manned Submersible",in which the HOV used for the emergency repair of underwater production systems was designed to provide safeguard for the production of offshore oil and gas.On one hand,according to the design requirements of task document,the design work about the manned submersible which can dive to depths of 1,500 meters is carried out in this paper.Firstly,the hull form and general arrangement of the target submersible is given.Secondly,the related properties like resistance,the effective power,hydrostatic are calculated,and much work is performed simultaneously,the major equipment for energy,propulsion,observe,navigation,operation systems are selected and the ballast tank,variable ballast system,trim system are designed.Finally,the structure design for the pressure hull and non-pressure frame are conducted and the strength and stability are checked in the finite element analysis software.On the other hand,as a technology-intensive complex system,a good reliability of submarine is the foundation to guarantee the safety of personnel and underwater operations,so it is necessary to carry on the reliability analysis for a submarine.In this paper,Failure Mode and Effects Analysis(FMEA)which has matured in the field of automotive and aerospace industry,is adopted to study the potential failure of submarine.The classes of fault causes,detection method and fault influence are assessed,and the FMEA tables are established.At last,the faults sorted by RPN are output successively,and the improvement plans and management control measures on high-risk failure are given to reduce the failure loss and to improve the reliability of the submersible.
