The dynamic stiffness coefficients of the foundation in half-space play an important role in studying the dynamic foundations and dynamic soil-structure interaction.Since the 30 s of the last century many scholars have adopted analytical and numerical methods to carry out extensive researches on the problem. However, most of the references are based on the isotropic media. In fact, soils possess significant transversely isotropic(TI)properties under continuous deposition and weathering. Thus, studying the dynamic stiffness coefficients of foundations in TI half-space has significant theoretical and engineering value. In this paper,an indirect boundary element method(IBEM)is adopted to study the dynamic stiffness coefficients of the rigid strip foundation of the multi-layered transversely isotropic elastic and saturated half-space.The main contents are as follows:Solving the dynamic equilibrium equations of TI elastic medium in the transformed domain and establishing the exact dynamic stiffness matrix of multi-layered TI half-space.Then we derived the Green's functions for uniformly distributed loads acting on a horizontal and inclined line in a multi-layered TI half-space,and used the IBEM to solve the dynamic stiffness coefficients. The method was verified via comparisons with published results, and the effects of material anisotropy, frequency of excitation and soil layer on the dynamic stiffness coefficients were studied in detail.Based on Biot's classical formulation,we solved the dynamic equilibrium equations and established the exact dynamic stiffness matrix. Then we derived the Green's functions and used the IBEM to solve the dynamic stiffness coefficients. The effects of material anisotropy, permeable boundary condition and soil layer on the dynamic stiffness coefficients were studied in detail. The results show that there is a significant difference between the dynamic stiffness coefficients of the TI and the isotropic half-pace.The TI parameters of the soil have a significant effect on the dynamic stiffness coefficients. The change of the soil TI parameters alters the dynamic characteristic and then influences the dynamic interaction between foundation and half-space.The sedimentary sequence of soil also has important influence on the dynamic stiffness coefficients.
