According to statistics,thermal power accounted for 82.54% of the total power generation in the country.While the main pollutants of fire power plants include soot,sulfur dioxide and nitrogen oxides.The sulfur dioxide has reached half of the total emission of various industries in china.Therefore,it was very important and urgent for sulfur dioxide fume pollution treatment.In recent years,more and more attention had been paid to the research of flue gas desulfurization technology.With the wet limestone flue gas desulfurization technology developing and widely used,the research and development of its special equipment had been put on the agenda,including desulphurization process pump and mechanical seal.Based on the comprehensive analysis of flue gas desulfurization equipment and medium characteristics,and the status of mechanical seals for pumps at home and abroad,this present paper mainly investigated the structure and characteristics of mechanical seal for flue gas desulfurization pump,and advanced the requirements of the mechanical seal for the desulfurization pump and the easy-happening fault.Through the analysis and design of a mechanical seal for a desulfurization pump,the dimension of pump cavity and working condition parameter were determined.At the same time,the mechanical seal adopted a single ended internal flow container structure and an external cooling water mode.Through analyzing and calculating the force and friction state of sealing ring end face,the reasonable end face specific pressure and the PV value were determined.Determined the amount of cooling water in mechanical seals.According to the condition of desulfurization circulating pump and the characteristics of sealed medium,the non-pressure sintered silicon carbide(SiC)was chosen as the material of the sealing ring,and the spring,auxiliary seal and metal material of the mechanical seal were analyzed and selected.Through the study on the main points of manufacture and assemblage,ensure the manufacture and installation accuracy meet the design and use requirements of the equipment to provide protection for the reliable operation of mechanical seal.The static pressure test and running test were carried out on the special test device,and the performance indexes met the standard requirements.The product had been installed in a thermal power plant in Shijiazhuang for industrial test and the operation time was more than one year which shows that the equipment meets the user's requirements.The research methods and contents of this paper will be helpful to promote the series development of mechanical seals for flue gas desulfurization pumps.
