The development of reverse osmosis seawater desalination technology meets the requirement of fresh water in ships;however,high energy consumption is a common problem in marine reverse osmosis desalination systems.An effective way to reduce energy consumption is adding energy recovery devices in seawater desalination systems.In addition,the existing energy recovery device is not suitable for reverse osmosis seawater desalination system of ships with limited space and abominable operating environment,because of its complex process,large noise and large volume.The purpose of this paper is to overcome the defects of existing technology by design and integration of new types energy recovery devices which is suitable for marine reverse osmosis desalination system,in this way the seawater desalination process is optimized,energy consumption is reduced and reliability of the system is improved.In this paper,the design and research methods of volumetric energy recovery seawater desalination system were expounded in detail based on theoretical calculation,process analysis,computer simulation and experiments.Firstly,according to the requirements of ship equipments,two volumetric energy recovery devices were proposed based on the principle of volumetric energy recovery.Seawater pressure,energy conversion and drive mechanism were integrated to reduce the volume of the device.Secondly,the dynamic characteristic analysis of check valves of the energy recovery device was performed using CFX software,and the optimization scheme to reduce the impact and noise of the valve core was obtained.Finally,the mathematical model of the system under the conditions of volumetric energy recovery was established through the theory of reverse osmosis and the theoretical analysis of volumetric energy recovery,the model was simulated with MATLAB,and the best parameters of the system were obtained.In this paper,two new types of volumetric energy recovery devices were designed for marine desalination system.Theoretical calculation and practical application proves that the efficiency of the new system is greatly improved and the desalination process is simplified,and so the design goals of low energy consumption,small volume and high reliability are realized,which may let the new volumetric energy recovery devices presented in this paper find wider applications in marine reverse osmosis seawater desalination systems.
