With the rapid advance process of urbanization and motorization,the contradiction between supply and demand of urban transport is becoming increasingly acute,and the traffic congestion and the environmental pollution become more serious in China.Urban transit has the advantages of large capacity,high efficiency,low cost and low energy consumption and pollution,it becomes the best choice to resolve urban traffic congestion problem.Demand-responsive connector system is a new type public transportation that between conventional transit and taxi,it has both advantages of low travel expenses and high loading rate,and also can meet the requirements of residents in convenient and comfortable.In low demand areas,such as rural and suburban,transit divisions have to spend money in developing conventional public transit system,it also causes the waste of resources.Developing demand-responsive connector system is an effective way to reduce the operating cost and ease urban traffic congestion.This system has already been used and achieved good results in some foreign cities,and it has not been practical application in China.Thus this paper intends to study the vehicle routing optimization problem of demand-responsive connector system.1)The related concepts and characteristics of demand-responsive connector system are introduced.And the compositions and working processes of this system are summed up.Then,this paper has a further study of demand-responsive connector system in service area,time constraints and vehicle features.2)This paper researches the routing optimization model of demand-responsive connector based on single transfer hub.When time constraints are not considered,it establishes the routing optimization model of demand-responsive connector based on single transfer hub without time window constraints to minimize the operating costs.When considering time constraints,it establishes the routing optimization model of demand-responsive connector based on single transfer hub with time window constraints to minimize the system costs.Two models are used to solve the routing problem with the help of MATLAB.3)On the basis of the routing optimization model of demand-responsive connector based on single transfer hub,considering the multi-transfer hubs may have some good effects on the total cost of the system and travel routing.So this paper build the routing optimization model of demand-responsive connector based on multi-transfer hubs and design the corresponding genetic algorithm to solve it.4)The residential area near Jiyin road in Jiangning district is chosen as a case to carry on the example simulation to verify the practicability and feasibility of the model and the algorithm.The analysis of the results show that the routing optimization model of demand-responsive connector based on multi-transfer hub has obvious advantages on the operating costs and passengers' satisfaction,it can reduce the total cost of the system.This paper studies the routing optimization model of demand-responsive connector.We believe that our work is hopeful to promote the development of demand-responsive connector system and improve the urban public transportation system,which can reduce the operating cost,improve the level of service of public transit system and ease the growing urban traffic congestion.
