Due to high reliable contact and soft insertion force of the wire spring connector,it has been used in military weapon and equipment system with high reliability in the past 10 years.At present,the wire spring connector used in weapons and equipment less than 10 years,the degradation mode mechanism has not been made clear with the long-term storage.It is very important to study the storage degradation of wire spring connectors.In this paper,the most important contact part of wire spring connector-wire spring contact pair-is taken as the research object,the mechanical properties and the degradation characteristics of the wire spring contact pair are studied and discussed,which is laid the theoretical and experimental foundation for the further designation and application of wire spring connectors.Taking the contact part-contact pair of wire spring connector as the research object,both the theory of mechanics of materials and FEA were used to analyze the mechanical properties of the existed wire spring contact pairs.The contact reliability of existing wire spring contact pair was evaluated by comparing the contact force with the design limit range.Then,based on the principle of orthogonal design,the influence of the main structural parameters(the diameter of wire spring,the installation angle of wire spring,the length of socket)on the contact force of wire spring contact pairs was studied by FEA.Finally,the degradation mechanism of the contact force and contact resistance of the wire spring contact pair under storage condition were also analyzed.The degeneration characteristics of wire spring contact pair was studied quantitatively through high temperature accelerated test.The research results show that the contact force of existed wire spring contact pair meets the design requirements.However,the contact force is in the lower part of the limit range.Therefore,when there is vibration in the environment,the phenomenon of instant break is also easy to appear.The order of the effect of main structural parameters of the wire spring socket on contact force is:the diameter of the wire spring>installation angle of wire spring>the length of the socket.This result provides a theoretical basis for the structural design optimization of the wire spring connector.Through the experiment of high temperature acceleration,the characteristic curves of the contact force and the contact resistance of the wire spring contact pair were obtained.The mathematic model was established to quantitatively predict the degradation degree of separation force and contact resistance of wire spring contact at room temperature,which provided the experimental and theoretical basis for the research of long-term storage reliability of wire spring connectors.
