Get A Glimpse Of The Spiritual Space

Through the field investigation and literature research in the past two years,an objective reality has been found that the "alcove" are widely used in many religious buildings.In the long development process,these niche spaces have presented different appearances in different historical periods,material environments and cultural backgrounds.Even though they have similar shapes and structures,the significance and status might be widely different.The exploration of the shapes and developments of niche space is of great benefit to the study of supplementing and improving the religious architectural spaces.The discussion on the relationship between the mode of spatial organization and the users’ emotions and behaviors may involves multiple disciplines,which can provide diversified directions and possibilities for further related research.First of all,by excavating the changes and influencing factors of "niche space" in the process of the growths and dissemination of different religions,this paper tries to sort out a development context of religious architecture focusing on the evolution of niche space.This paper intends to illustrate the popularization and secularization trend of niche space by several examples.Combined with the theoretical basis and methodologies of the sociology of religion,the author briefly summarizes the current development situation of religious spaces in China.Finally,through the further comparative study of the shapes and spatial combinations of the alcoves,I will extract the cultural genes and core concepts of niche space,integrate them into personal language and experience,and reconstruct them as an installation or sculpture.
