With the rapid development of China’s social economy and urban expressway road networks,the traffic sign need to provide more and more information volume.And this leads to the sign "information overload" and higher similarity of road names;At the same time,research shows that fatigue driving is one of the main causes of road traffic accidents,Reasonable range of traffic sign information can not only improve the driver’s cognition of driving environment,but also improve safety.To this end,this paper research on traffic sign information volume of expressway in different driving conditions,and model the sign information volume measurement,to obtain traffic signs threshold value,and provide a reference basis for traffic signs design.The main research contents and work are as follows:(1)Modeling traffic sign information volume measurement based on information theory and semantic correlation.On the basis of Shannon’s information theory,the information transmission mechanism and the correlation semantic correlation modeling the information measurement.The model considers the driver’s cognitive habit and optimizes the method of addition of single Chinese characters,which is more scientific and reasonable.(2)The driving fatigue and the vehicle speed are used as the independent variable in simulation experiment.Based on information theory and semantic relevance,six traffic signs with different information volume are designed by PHOTOSHOP.Then,using the road modeling tool and multigen-creator software model the experimental scene,and import 6traffic signs in experimental scene by.ive format.Then organized 10 testers participate the fatigue experiments by driving simulator,fatigue status according to the driver’s KSS score and "triple fatigue evaluation method",collecting and analyzing the driver reaction time by three types of fatigue states and three kinds of velocity,and process the experimental data.(3)The experimental results show that,when driving state is in the waking state and fatigue state,and the vehicle speed is 60km/h and 80km/h,the traffic sign’s information threshold value is 105 bit,but when the speed is up to 100km/h,the ttraffic sign’s information threshold value is 95 bit.When the driver is in very tired state,the speed is 60km/h,80km/h,and traffic sign’s information threshold value is 95bit;and when the speed is up to 100km/h,the ttraffic sign’s information threshold value is 85 bit.Finally according to the experimental results and semantic relevance to design simulation experiment,collecting experiment data,the road’s semantic relevance is not more than 4 times in a road network.
