In recent years, more and more scholars have introduced dispersion mechanics into the study of ballast beds. However, ballast particles often use simple and easily constructed geometries such as spheres to simulate ballast.Since the shape of the ballast particles also has a great influence on the mechanical properties of the ballast bed,it is necessary to conduct indepth research on the shape characteristics of track ballast. The main content of this article is as follows:We designed and manufactured a photographing device in which the gravel particles were not shaded and the shapes were clear and angular. In this paper, image processing technology is used to obtain the shape of gravel particles and calculate the shape parameters of all gravel particles.Through the statistical distribution of these parameters,it is found that the details of the particles do not change with the size of the particles. The shape of the gravel particles is more stable as the particle size increases.Gravel particle shape can be divided into square,elliptical,triangular,etc.3.The gravel particles are divided into equivalent ellipses and corresponding outsourcing curves.Reconstruction of equivalent ellipses and outsourced curves can be achieved through probabilistic statistical methods,Combining them can obtain the reconstruction particles.4.In this paper,a particle library was built by using a sample of track ballast. The database can randomly generate two-dimensional particles according to the Ballast gradation.Two-dimensional information identification and reconstruction of gravel particles provide a good foundation for the future numerical simulation of the mechanical properties of the ballast bed.At the same time, the overall shape of the ballast bed can be evaluated and analyzed by shape parameters.
