The ballast hopper car is a special railway vehicle used to transport railway ballast or small stone material.The purpose of quick unloading of this car is achieved by open the unloading mechanism of the bottom door by wind power or manpower.In this paper,taking the broad ballast hopper car for Argentina as the research object,based on the analysis of home and abroad ballast hopper,and to meet the demand of customer.Through the selection and analysis of the main structure and important parts of the vehicle,comparing and analyzing the technical characteristics and performance of the vehicle.to complete the new hopper,end wall structure and the overall technical scheme of the vehicle.The scheme meets the requirements of the outside or unilateral unloading of the goods on the outside of the track,and improves the efficiency of the vehicle significantly.According to the main dimensions and performance parameters of the vehicle,based on TB/T 1335-1996 "specifications for the strength design and experimental identification of railway vehicles",the calculation load and load case of the static strength evaluation of the car body structure are determined.The fatigue life of the car body structure is compiled based on the requirements of the AAR M-1001 "the design and manufacture of freight cars",so that the hopper car got a reasonable technical index,and we research and develop the advanced technology,simple operation,the economic application of the hopper carThe finite element method is used to calculate,analyze the feasibility and implementation of program;the prototype is studied,the results show that the design of this car is reasonable;the actual performance of the product meets standards and customer requirements.By comparing the finite element analysis results with the static test results,it is found that the calculated values are in good agreement with the experimental values.At the end of this paper,the local instability of the vehicle body when the car is jacked is analyzed;according to the results of this buckling analysis,a reasonable technical measure to solve the instability problem is put forward.The user witness test shows that the technical measures satisfactorily solve the problem of instability failure.This paper is a systematic summary of the development process of the ballast hopper,which provides a theoretical basis and technical reference for the research and manufacture of new structure special purpose freight car.
