| The rapid development of social and economic activities and fast rising of residential population due to rural-urban migration in recent years has caused the tremendous increase of road traffic demand.In most of the fast growing cities in the world including the Chinese cities,the traffic congestion has becomes a serious problem that causes road traffic chaotic at sometimes.Traffic congestion occurs frequently because the existed traffic infrastructures do not meet the ever increasing traffic demand.Although some of the measures have been adopted to minimize the traffic congestion problem such as construction of the flyovers or underpass roads in high populated road intersection points,but still traffic congestion remained as a major challenge that raises attention to many researchers recently.Therefore this thesis report presents the research that analyses the traffic patterns of road network of Kelamayi city,Xinjing province,PRC.Based on the analysis the locations of traffic congestion and main factors which influencing the congestion that affect the efficiency of the traffic flow in the current road network of the city will be identified and analyzed.In this research the algorithm for detecting the locations of traffic congestion was proposed and developed,which uses the historical traffic data in place as well as the current traffic dataset to help identify the locations of traffic congestions.This report also discusses and proposes some traffic management strategies and control mechanism that can be applied around these areas so as to reduce congestion effect which in turns enhances the efficiency of the road network. |
