The Study Of Lighting Environment Design Strategy For Architectural Facades Of European-style Pedestrian Streets

Urban pedestrian streets are often located in the most prosperous core area in many cities,which always become a city's business card of themselves cultures,economies and even political factors.Architectural fa?ade of the pedestrian street was the most intuitive composition of urban culture theme,which combines art and technology to project the appearance of urban culture from both spiritual and material perspectives.Lighting played a vital role for the commercial pedestrian street facades both in the day and night.In the daytime,the building fa?ade structure,lines and even details of decoration were reflected better by the good light.However,artificial lighting remodeled the pedestrian street facades in the night through the combination of color,light,art and technology,which was completely different form the daytime to reflect the city's cultural images.Based on this theory,the research investigated three typical European pedestrian streets of Wuhan City,which included the art(spirit)and functional(material)two levels.From the time clue,such three streets included Jianghan Road Pedestrian Street(which had a hundred years of history),Optical Valley Pedestrian Street(which has been completed since 2009)and Chuhe-Hanjie Pedestrian Street(which built in 2012)respectively.They were representative of the developed of European architecture of a context in Wuhan City: a historical and cultural legacy of the European-style pedestrian street(Janghan Road Street),an artificial remodeled European-style pedestrian street(Optical Valley Pedestrian Street)and a innovational European-style pedestrian street combined with Chinese style(Chuhe-Hanjie Pedestrian Street).Hence,the research analyzed and studied these streets from the horizontal and vertical aspects: the analysis of horizontal direction(artistic survey)includes two major categories of the urban lighting culture and the decorative expression of the lighting respectively,and results of the analysis are explained by forms;the analysis of vertical direction(functional survey)includes six subclasses from the type of fixture,the type of light source,the illumination,the visibility and apparent visibility,the design method and the lighting method to make a classify statistical analysis.The results of the above research were qualitatively summarized(artistic survey)and one-way factor variance analysis(ANOVA).Thereby,some problems of lighting environment design in these street were summed up.Finally,some theoretical aspects of these issues have been discussed to try to find a solution.At the same time,a theoretical model diagram will be built to illustrate solution strategies and methods.
