As known for its convenience of operation and utility,the conventional urban public transport has been accepted as one of the most important ways by many cities at home and abroad for its superior carrying capacity,safer level of driving safety and higher utilization of urban streets.Attributed to the insufficient actual situation and supporting facilities of urban streets,lower prospective planning and layout of bus networks and intermediate stations,cause many defects of urban transportation such as more time delay,lower service level and operating efficiency and so on,especially in rush hour.The outstanding problem is that the most bus stops which set on the center districts of the cities are in overload operation frequently.However,the relevant design norms and specifications in our country did not give the appropriate reference to adjust or optimize the buses operation of those stops.But with the steady growth of the urban public transport trips in the city,the operation of those overloaded bus stations will be aggravated gradually also,which will become the new bottleneck and restrict the development of urban public transport safer and better increasingly.To sum up,how to reduce the time delays of queuing buses at the overloaded stops in urban centers and promote it's overloaded operation status effectively has become the primary problem to improve the service level of urban bus network services effectivelyThis paper studies the conventional bus stops located in the central area of the cities which have serious time delay in buses queuing at the stops.First of all,the paper sort out various reasons and influencing factors of the time delay caused by the buses at the stop;analyze and discuss the reasons that restrict the service level of the research stop based on this classification.Then,based on the influencing factors of studied stop's capacity,in order to maximize the capacity of transit bus stations as the goal of optimal control.the paper attempts to minimize the total delay of the buses at the same stop through analyzing the characteristics of bus routes and docking time of the buses,taking into account the temporal characteristics of the docking buses and the passengers' demand,and finally determining the optimal capacity of the bus stop.The paper proposes a new approach to reduce the redundancy of bus routes at the same stop.Finally,the paper verifies the practicability and reliability of the model through a case study by one conventional bus stop's data.The result shows that the optimization model has one good applicability for the purpose of defining the optimal service capability and adjusting the overloaded bus routes of the overload bus stops.
