As the largest carbon pool, forest ecosystem not only in maintaining regional ecological balance has irreplaceable and in the absorption of fixation of atmospheric CO 2, to maintain the global carbon balance and prevent global warming also plays a pivotal role. With the signing of the Kyoto Protocol, carbon trading has become a hot issue around the world, which further triggers people's continuous attention to forest carbon sequestration. In this paper, based on the middle and small scale areas, set forest ecosystem of Sishui County as research object, referring to the forest management inventory, we studied the county level carbon storage and carbon density. Through the research on the characteristics of forest ecosystem carbon storage and carbon density in the whole county, can provide scientific basis for the sustainable development of county forestry and the management of local forest in the future. This study combined with Shandong Province forest management inventory resource dates to measure county level carbon, the carbon storage of forest land was measure by devoted to the establishment of the carbon content of the equations are obtained directly from the, which not only embodies the measuring method of the innovation, and the carbon storage and carbon density of measured value is more reliable and authoritative, thus to guide the county level forest ecosystem carbon sink production and carbon sequestration has important significance.In this study, referring to the forest management inventory in Sishui County, Shandong Province, and seven equation sets of carbon storage as well as common carbon parameters were used to calculate the carbon storage and carbon density in Sishui County. The results were mainly concluded as follows:(1)The results showed that the total carbon storage in Sishui County was 324.48×104 t, The ratio of Carbon density of different vegetation types followed the order as below: forested land(73.37%)> sparse forestland(15.12%)> economic forest(8.31%)>unwood land(1.71%)>village trees(0.86%)> shrub forest(0.32%)>nursery land(0.31%). The carbon storage of Sishui County was mainly distributed in the forested land(73.37%) and the sparse forestland(15.12%), two of which accounted for almost 88.49% of total carbon storage. The research emphasis on the carbon storage is the forest land and sparse forestland.(2)The carbon density in Sishui County was 72.38 t?hm-2 Carbon density of different vegetation types followed the order as below: forested land(84.40 t?hm-2)> economic forest(64.54 t?hm-2)> sparse forestland(60.67 t?hm-2)>shrub forest(26.57 t?hm-2)>nursery land(24.10 t?hm-2)>unwood land(23.70 t?hm-2)>village trees(23.11 t?hm-2).(3) As the largest source of forest carbon storage in Sishui County, According to tree species of different forested land, Carbon storage followed the order as below: Populus sp.(134.50×104 t)?Platycladus orientalis(59.89×104 t)?Robinia pseudoacacia(18.61×104 t)?other arbor forest(14.55×104 t)?pinus(4.75×104 t)?mixed forests(4.08×104 t)?Quercus forest(1.70×104 t)?Carbon density of different vegetation types followed the order as below: Quercus forest(158.75 t?hm-2)?mixed forests(141.63 t?hm-2)?Platycladus orientalis(132.28 t?hm-2)?other arbor forest(89.10 t?hm-2)?Robinia pseudoacacia(85.29 t?hm-2)?Populus sp.(71.93 t?hm-2)?pinus(61.35 t?hm-2)?Therefore, the research on forest land carbon storage is the key point of forest ecosystem carbon storage.This study comprehensively estimated the carbon storage and carbon density of forest ecosystem, and illuminated the relationship of the carbon storage and the carbon density among the different vegetation types in Sishui County. The research results not only provided an essential data to the production of forest carbon sink, but gave a technical method for further research on carbon sink calculation of the counties as well.
