This investigation chooses 23 artificial populations of Fatsia japonica from Chendu and Ya'an. population size, plant height and ground diameter were served as population characteristics; soil acidity(pH), organic matter, available potassium, available phosphorus, nitrate nitrogen, ammonium nitrogen and relative light intensity were served as habitat characteristics; ovule number, seed number, fruit set, seed set and seed dry weight of Fatsia japonica in population were served as reproduction parameters. This article mainly adopted the Pearson correlation analysis, variance analysis, principal component analysis and regression analysis. Our aim was to find out the relationship between population, habitat characteristics and reproduction of the Fatsia japonica, expecting to provide theoretical basis for the development and utilization of Fatsia japonica. The results were as follows:(1) The ovule number of Fatsia japonica had no significant correlation with population and habitat characteristics, speculated that controlled by genetic factors, mainly.(2) At the individual level, the plant size of Fatsia japonica had a significant positive correlation with seed dry weight, a significant negative correlation with the seed number, fruit set and seed set of Fatsia japonica. That different plant size makes different reproductive strategies, existing a balance relationship between seed size and seed number. Large individuals tend to increase the seed weight to improve offspring's fitness, small individuals tend to increase the seed number to raise offspring's fitness.(3) The seed number of Fatsia japonica in population was mainly affected by relative light intensity, the greater the relative light intensity is, the higher seed yield is.(4) The fruit set of Fatsia japonica in population is mainly influenced by relative light intensity, the greater the relative light intensity is, the higher seeding rate is; Population size has a significant positive correlation with fruit set, the greater the population size is, the higher seeding rate is.(5) The seed set of Fatsia japonica in population is mainly influenced by relative light intensity, the greater the relative light intensity is, the higher the rate of seed set is.(6)The seed dry weight of Fatsia japonica was mainly affected by plant size, the greater the individual plant is, the heavier its seed dry weight is; And population size, organic matter, available potassium, available phosphorus, nitrate nitrogen indirectly affect seed weight by the plant size.
