The system observation comparison study on morphology has been conducted to Sophora japonica L. and its variety: S. japonica var. huangjin, S. japonica var. flavi-rameus, S. japonica var. liaohong, S. japonica var. oligophylla Franch; Pollen ultramicro morphology structure of S. japonica and S. japonica var. pendula Loud and S. japonica var. liaohong and S. japonica var. oligophylla were studied. The aim of these studies is to discuss their classified value and provide the scientific basis for distinctions between S. japonica and its variety. In order to find out the best reproduction time and the reproduction way which suits the local phenological period characteristic, system research on reproduction characteristic of S. japonica and its variety has been conducted, and the biology characteristic of which grown in Liaocheng area has been observed and recorded. For Landscape garden breeding massive high quality nursery stock Provides the theory basis and instructs production practice. The successful selective breeding of S. japonica var. liaohong has added a new member to S. japonica family and enriched the color of trees and pattern varieties in summer.1. S. japonica and its varieties have been gathered in Liaocheng urban district and forest place of Shenxian- maxi which belongs to the old Yellow River course, and morphology characteristics of leaves, stems, flowers have been observed and compared and the variety appraisal was carried on. The result shows that morphology characteristics are important to the varieties study. The paper has cleared about new classified status of S. japonica var. oligophylla and avoids the not unified use behavior in the literature; the paper also has established variety status of S. japonica var. liaohong.2. Pollen morphology of S. japonica, S. japonica var. pendula , S. japonica var. liaohong and S. japonica var. oligophylla was examined under scanning electron microscope(SEM). The results showed that the pollen grains have the consistency in the species and they are long spheroid with 3-colporate. The pollen grains size and the morphology of ornamentation among different variety. Pollen difference can be served as an evidence for the interspecies'classification of Sophora japonica .3. By analysis and experimental study to reproduction characteristic of S. japonica and its varieties, the paper unifies their garden application value in the Liaocheng area. Based on the local phenological period characteristic, we obtained the most suitable reproduction time and the reproduction way of S. japonica and its varieties. The purpose is for landscape gardens breeding massive high quality nursery stock to provides the theory basis and instructs production practice. The result showed that the reproduction of sowing seeds suits to S. japonica, shoot grafting suits to S. japonica var.pendula and Loud. S. japonica var. flavi-rameus and S. japonica var.Liaohong, and budding suits to S.japonica var.huangjin in the Liaocheng area. And we has summarized their reproduction experience. Because S.japonica var. oligophylla is the present landscape gardens the precious tree, the tissue culture research has been carried on in order to enhance its reproduction coefficients and provide massive high quality nursery stock for the production.4. S.japonica var.liaohong was a new variation type discovered by selective breeding, and it was appraised for a new variety of S. japonica by department of science and technology of Shandong province. This paper recorded the complete technical process to selective breeding of S. japonica var. liaohong. The successful selective breeding of S. japonica var. liaohong has enriched arbor tree varieties with red flowerers which are originally very few in summer. There was the important practical significance to maintain the biological multiplicity as well as to protect and research on native plant resources.
