The trial was conducted from 2013 to 2014 in Shandong Shofine soybean academician workstation.By setting the intercropping patterns of different soybean varieties with the same maize variety,different maize varieties with the same soybean variety,accompanied by various intercropping field configuration,the best intercropping pattern has been worked out which is most suitable for soybean,maize,and the reasonable field configuration.The main findings are as follows:1.The physiological response and yield performance of different soybean varieties underthe intercropping conditions The most important impact upon soybean is the shade from the maize,after intercropping the maize and soybean.Therefore,the soybean varieties resistant to shade perform well,and the plant growth and yield are less affected.There is little difference from the monoculture management for the soybean varieties of Suike 8 and Xudou 14 in the following traits of dry matter accumulation,the plant height at harvest time,the bottom pod height,the number of branches per plant and the grain weight.They are proved to be suitable for intercropping with maize.However,There is big difference from the monoculture management for the soybean varieties of Luhuang 1,Shengdou 10 and Shengdou 14 in the following traits of dry matter accumulation,the plant height at harvest time,the bottom pod height,the number of branches per plant and the grain weight.The yield is not as much as the monoculture pattern.They are not suitable for intercropping with maize.2 The impact upon the soybean and its total economic benefits intercropped with different maize varieties.The impact upon the soybean plant growth is related to different maize varieties,when intercropped with maize.We used the compact-type Maize Zhengdan 958 in our trial.Its impact upon soybean is less than other two maize Varieties of SF567 and Xianyu335 in such aspects as dry matter accumulation,the plant height at harvest time,the bottom pod height,the number of branches per plant,node pods and the grain weight.The total economic benefit is highest of all when Zhengdan 958 intercrops the soybean.The trial is proved that Zheng 958 is more suitable to intercrop with soybean3 The physiological response and the total economic benefit impacted by different field configuration upon maize and soybeanIn order to find the right field configuration,we set up different field configurations by changing the row spacing of maize,as well as the spacing between maize and soybean.When the maize row spacing 50cm,soybean spacing 40cm,soybean-maize row spacing 55cm,their physiological growth will get less impacted and the yield is also higher than the other two settings(maize row spacing 40cm,soybean spacing 40cm,soybean-maize row spacing of 60cm;maize row spacing 60cm,soybean spacing 40cm,50cm maize-soybean row spacing 50cm)The total field profit is highest after harvest.The second place comes to the setting of maize row spacing 40cm,soybean spacing 40cm and soybean-maize row spacing 60cm,and the last is the setting of maize row spacing 60cm,soybean spacing 40cm and soybean-maize row spacing 50cm.
