Paris polyphylla Smith var. chinensis (Franch.) Hara that belongs to the genus Paris Trilliaceae is herbaceous perennial flower with ornamental and health care efficacy. The active ingredients of dried rhizomes have anti-tumor, hemostasis and immunomodulatory effects,so it has high development and application value. With the rapid development of industry of chinese medicine, wild resources can not meet the market demand. Although people achieved initial success in artificial domestication of P. polyphylla var. chinensis, but like most chinese herbal medicines, P. polyphylla var. chinensis lacks of standardized guidance of cultivation system The experiment was conducted to study the effects of several constant elements(N,P,K) and trace elements(B,Mo,La) on growth and saponin of P. polyphylla var. chinensis. So the study in P. polyphylla var. chinensis as materials,through a sand culture experiment, with at N,P,K at three factors and three levels L9(3)4 orthogonal design and the completely random combination design test method,researched the effects of several constant elements(N,P,K) and trace elements(B,Mo,La) on growth and saponin of P. polyphylla var. chinensis. So as to provide a theoretical basis for intensive cultivation of P. polyphylla var. chinensis. This study got following results:1.Combined application of N,P,K can promote the growth of P. polyphylla var. chinensis. N3(300mg/L)P1(15mg/L)K2(160mg/L) treatment was the best growth of P. polyphylla var. chinensis height, biomass to accumulate the highest and specific leaf area decreased 15.15%, the drying rate is increased by 5.8%, significantly improved the growth of P. polyphylla var. chinensis.Nitrogen had the greatest influence on the growth of P.polyphylla var. chinensis. And high nitrogen can improve the photosynthetic rate, promote photosynthesis and biomass.2. Combined application of N,P,K increased the content of effective components of P.polyphylla var. chinensis.And the different constant elements had different effects on different effective components. N3(300mg/L)P1(15mg/L)K2(160mg/L) treatment made the content of polyphyllin I, polyphyllins VII, and total saponins were the highest respectively 0.53mg/g?4.35mg/g?5.36mg/g, increased by 65.63%?119.69%?126.16% compered with the CK.The primary and secondary order of the effect of nitrogen,phosphorus and potassium on polyphyllin I is K>P>N, the same as polyphyllin ?. The primary and secondary order of the effect of nitrogen,phosphorus and potassium on polyphyllin ? and total saponin were P>K>N. N3(300mg/L)P3(60mg/L)Ki(80mg/L) treatment made the content of polyphyllin VI is the highest for 0.88mg/g,increased 21 times compered with the CK. The primary and secondary order of the effect of nitrogen,phosphorus and potassium on polyphyllin VI is P >N>K.3. N 300mg/L?P 15mg/L?K160mg/L was most effective to promote the growth and saponin contents.4.Increased of boron element can promote growth of P.polyphylla var. chinensis,at the same times,inhibit total saponins accumulation in the rhizome.When boron was 5.10mg/L, the highest biomass was 2.08g,increased 40.54%,dry rate increased 32.28%,and total saponins was not significant difference, compered with the CK.But when boron levels were higher than 5.10mg/L,total saponins contents in rhizome decreased. Considering the growth and total saponins in rhizome of the P.polyphylla var. chinensis,the best level of boron was 5.10mg/L.5.The right amount of molybdenum can promote and increase the content of total saponins in rhizome of P.polyphylla var. chinensis. In the O.llmg/L-11.OOmg/L level range, the growth and total saponins contents in rhizome showed a rosing tend.11.00mg/L Mo level was most effective to promote the growth and saponin contents.6. The right amount of lanthanum can promote and increase the content of total saponins in rhizome of P.polyphylla var. chinensis. In the 5.00mg/L-160.00mg/L level range, total saponins contents in rhizome showed a rosing tend. But when lanthanum levels were higher than 80.00mg/L,the growth of P.polyphylla var. chinensis was inhibited. Considering the growth and total saponins in rhizome of the P.polyphylla var. chinensis,the best level of lanthanum was 80.00mg/L.
