Colibacillosis is induced by some kinds of sterotype of pathogenicity colon bacillus, which is the infection of many kinds of animals induced by Escherichia coli. In young swine, white scour of piglets and yellow scour of newborn piglets can be seen more frequently. In chickens, there are many kinds of symptoms, and some are more common, like granuloma, perihepatitis, septicemia, pericarditis, enteritis, airsacculitis, etc., which can induce huge economic damagment of cultivation not seldom. Now, because of the large number of sterotypes, the prevention and cure of colibacillosis is pretty difficult that the vaccines we already had can not prevent effectivly. Drug resistance induced by a great quantity of antibiotics used to treat the disease, induces the poor effect. The antibiotics remained in the productions of eggs and meat would be harmful to the food safety, if we used larger dosage of antibiotics or treated with longer time. Above all, to study and reasearch Chinese traditional medicine, which is more safe and effective, and to clarify the machinism of action have considerable value in theory and clinical application.Three groups of the compound Chinese traditional medicine used to do antimicrobial susceptibility test and minimal inhibitory concentration test. Our group established the Escherichia coli infected mice model to evaluate the antibacterial activities of the compound Chinese traditional medicine against Escherichia coli. The evaluating indicator including that using select medium stool to observe the number of Bifidobacterium?Lactobacillus?Enterobacter and Enterococcus in the jejunum; the thickness of mucosa, the length of villus, the number of goblet cell in duodenum and jejunum; the level Muc2 and Muc3 by fluorescence quantitative PCR in the duodenum and jejunum. The results are followed:1. The inhibitory experiment showed that three kinds of the compound Chinese traditional medicine can inhibit the growth of the two strains of Escherichia coli. The first one has biggest inhibitory diameter, and minimum MIC.2. Established the Escherichia coli infected mice, compared with the normal group, the tract flora of these mice in this group was unbalance, The number of Enterobacter and Enterococcus were significantly increased, the number of Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium were significantly decreased(P<0.01);intestinal mucosal villus were damaged and breakaged, intestinal apical epithelial cell necrosis and shedding, the number of goblet cells also decreased; the levels of Muc2 and Muc3 were significantly decreased(P<0.01).In the compound Chinese traditional medicine group, Compared with the normal group, the number of Bifidobacterium?Lactobacillus?Enterobacter and Enterococcus in the jejunum of the mice almost recovered (P> 0.05), Compared with the normal group, The morphology of intestinal mucosa was greatly improved, the levels of Muc2 and Muc3 were higher than model group(P<0.01),but it also lower than normal group(P<0.05).In Enrofloxian group, compared with the normal group, the number of Enterobacter and Enterococcus decreased quietly(P>0.05), and the number of Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium had extremely significant difference(P<0.01), compared with the model group, the morphology of intestinal mucosa improved a little, and the level of Muc2 and Muc3 mRNA significantly improved (P<0.01).In conclusion, our study demonstrated that compound Chinese traditional medicine is of antibacterial activities against Escherichia coli and explored antibacterial mechanisms of Chinese traditional medicine against Escherichia coli. These data provided new insight on controlling Escherichia coli infection and supported to develop the compound Chinese traditional medicine as a new possible veterinary medicine.
