Climate change has been a hot issue that is of great influence in global politics,economic,diplomacy and state security.Climate change is the result of the human invasion and damage to nature,especially the emission of greenhouse gases.Nowadays,economic development while maintain social ecosystem has been a common theme all over the world so that many protocols or conventions are taken effect one after another.Clean Development Mechanism is the most significant concept and mechanism of development,in which it is firmly convinced that the carbon sink of forest plays an essential role in the reduction of greenhouse gases emission.Forest ecosystem,as the main core of land ecosystem,is making an irreplaceable contribution in reducing greenhouse gases,keep carbon balance worldwide and protect global climate.After the Kyoto Protocol coming out,carbon trade has been attracting more and more countries and scientists to research.Therefore,the issue of forest carbon sink is the leading edge of forestry economics research,which is playing a significant role in the progress of social ecology,economics and politics.One of the valid method for increasing forest carbon sink is to plant more trees and to strengthen forest management.So,plantation is the most important measure for forest carbon sink promotion.In recent years,China has been taking the first place in terms of the area of plantation.Besides,World Bank announces that China has the highest increment of forest area than any other country or districts forthe past 25 years.As a lacking-forest province,provincial government emphasizes on the plantation of forest so the area of forest in Shandong province is gradually increasing.The progress in forestry needs the thorough cognition and social attention,which includes the research on forest carbon sink.Therefore,it is necessary to investigate,calculate,and research the change of forest storage in a district.The research of regional carbon storage provides not only the academic evaluation on the function of regional forest in global carbon balance,but also the reference for the management and carbon trade of forest stations.Culai Forest Station is selected as the research area in our research and we chose three typical tree species planted in Shandong province,including Robina pseudoacacia,Pinus densiflora Sieb.et Zucc.,and Quercus acutissima Carruth..We set 21 plot area per species for the former two tree species and 20 plots for Quercus acutissima Carruth..Then we used Volume Method to calculate the carbon storage of three species,while the growth performance of trees is classified.Thus,we conclude the annual change of single tree species in different classes and make comparison among them.The results are listed as follows.The carbon sink quality of locust is advantageous and carbon storage of locust stands in different site indexes is gradually increasing.The carbon sink maturity age of locust is about 32 years.The carbon sink maturity age of Japanese red pine is later to come.It is in the 53th year that Japanese red pine stand in good site index has the maximum of annual carbon storage so the maturity age of carbon sink is 53 years old.Sawtooth oak has a higher maturity age of carbon sink.Because among three site situations,the annual carbon storage in sawtooth oak does not have the maximum or decline trend,it is difficult to confirm the concrete age of carbon maturity.However,it is sure that the carbon maturity age of sawtooth oak is at least 53 years old.The differences of sawtooth oak carbon sink quality among various sites is apparent.For instance,in the 53th year,the annual carbon storage of oak in good site is 15%larger than that in middle one which is 34%higher than that in bad one.Besides,we compared carbon intensity of three tree species,which shows locust>oak>red pine.Therefore,locust has an advantage in carbon storage increment compared with oak or red pine.Moreover,we look forward to making valuable suggestions for promotion of forest carbon sink,enriching the research of carbon storage,and providing a valid reference for calculating carbon sink in a forest station.
