Scientific and reasonable cotton cultivation pattern is the necessary condition of high yield and high resources use efficiency in cotton production. However, the agricultural production in China is mainly dependent on nature environment. But the use efficiency of field resources in China is lower than those in developed countries, and the current crop cultivation theory and technology need to innovate and improve continuously. We selected cotton variety siza3 for this experiment. To reveal the effect of different cultivation patterns on field resources use efficiency, field stationary experiments with different cultivation patterns were carried out in two types(high and low soil fertility level fields, respectively,in Dafeng(120°13’E,32°56’N),Jiangsu.The cultivation patterns included super high cultivation patterns(SH),farmers practice cultivation patterns(FP),high yield and high efficiency cultivation patterns(HH).The study focused on:(1)Effects of different cultivation patterns on cotton agriculture characters, biomass accumulation and distribution.(2)Effects of different cultivation patterns on cotton yield and yield component, fiber quality.(3)Effects of different cultivation patterns on cotton field resources use efficiency. The main results were as follows:1 Effects of different cultivation patterns on cotton agriculture characters, biomass accumulation and distribution. The growth period of HH was later than FP and SH for 15-20 days because of difference in growth seeding. But the faster biomass accumulation speed in cotton flower and boll stage ensured high biomass accumulation and yield. The rule of agriculture characters per plant, including fruiting site, fruiting branch and boll number, showed FP>SH>HH in cotton flower and boll stage. But group agriculture characters showed SH>HH>FP because of lower plant density of FP.Those cultivation patterns’ biomass accumulation showed the rule of SH>HH>FP.What has significant difference in different fertility levels.Cultivation pattern has obvious significance on cotton biomass distribution, the nutritive and reproductive organ ratio, root shoot ratio and leaf boll ratio were obviously effected by cultivation pattern and fertility level.2 Effects of different cultivation patterns on cotton yield and yield component, fiber quality. The yield of different cultivation patterns showed the rule of SH>HH>FP.What was positive correlated with nitrogen application rate and biomass accumulation.Different fertility levels have significant difference. The key factor to influence yield was boll number.Cultivation pattern has no significant effects on cotton boll weight.HH and SH were significantly higher than FP and NO on lint percentage.Cultivation pattern has obviously effects on uniformity and fiber strength, but no obviously significance on Upper Half Mean Length and micronaire.3 Effects of different cultivation patterns on cotton field resources use efficiencyLint yield of cotton were significantly affected by cultivation patterns and soil fertility levels.Lint yield difference was correlated with the differences of temperature production efficiency(TPE),radiation use efficiency(RUE)and nitrogen partial factor productivity(NPEP)among different cultivation patterns. Our results suggested that the key factor limited cotton production is their lower resources use efficiency.Resources use efficiency in high fertility level was significantly higher than the low one.The temperature and radiation use efficiency showed the rule of HH>SH>FP.The result showed that the lint yield, temperature and radiation use efficiency and nitrogen partial factor productivity of HH gained 27.5%,27.7%,23.4%and 10.1%higher than FP.Therefore,HH should be encouraged to extend in the Yangtze River Valley. It indicated that increasing cotton productivity in the future needs further improvement of field resources use efficiency in wheat-cotton double cropping system.
