Seeding and earth up are important cultivation measures in the process of planting ginger,but it is inconsistent with the understanding of reasonable sowing depth and earth up height in production.?Shannong 1? was used in this paper,and studied that sowing depth and earth up height affected on growth,root development,rhizome formation and some physiological characteristics of ginger plant in order to investigate the effect of sowing depth and earth up height on the yield and quality of ginger,The experimental results were listed below:1.Sowing depth significantly affected the emergence and growth of ginger.At 25 th days after sowing,the seedling emergence rate of 2 cm depth was 46.3%,however,with only 28.08% of 10 cm;At 45 th days after sowing,the seedling emergence rate of all treatments reached 98%.Stage covering soil and earth up promoted the growth of ginger.For instance,during seedling stage,The plant height and stem diameter of stage covering soil to 10 cm depth was higher than that of 10 cm by 48.29%?5.68%,but there was no significant difference in the number of branches.When the rhizome enlargement stage,the plant height,stem diameter and branch number of stage covering soil to 10 cm depth were higher than that of 2 cm by 14.74%?5.32%?15.15%,and the earth up to 20 cm were higher than not earth up by 2.96%?1.09%?7.34%.2.Stage covering Soil and earth up is beneficial to improve rhizome diameter of ginger,for instance,when the harvest time,the diameter of old turmeric of stage covering soil to 10 cm depth were higher than that of 2 cm by 55.02%;the diameter of young turmeric of stage covering soil to 10 cm depth were higher than that of 2?6?10 cm by 42.21%?13.09%?4.26% Effects of earth up on diameter of old turmeric were not significant,but significantly improved the diameter of young turmeric,for instance,the diameter of young turmeric of earth up to 20 cm were higher than not earth up by 49.92%.3.Stage covering soil and earth up improved the yield of ginger,but significantly reduced the quality of ginger.The yield of stage covering soil to 10 cm depth was higher than that of 2?6?10 cm by 41.07%?4.61%?4.95%.Furthmore,The yield of earth up to20?10 cm was higher than not earth up by 18.56%?17.85%.The content of dry matter,Starch,volatile oil,free amino acid and protein of stage covering soil to 10 cm depth were lower than that of 2 cm by 9.86%?11.74%?19.24%?26.67%?19.02%.;The content of dry matter,Starch,volatile oil,free amino acid and protein of earth up to 20 cm were lower than not by 7.97%?7.42%?12.5%?10.36%?8.75%.4.Deep sowing and earth up significantly affect the development of root ginger.When the seedling stage,the root length,root surface area and root activity of sowing depth of 10 cm was higher than that of 2 cm by 41.79%?45.59%?16.9%,however,the root weight,root mean diameter was lower than that of 2 cm by 26.13%?22.6%.When the rhizome enlargement stage,the root length,root surface area,root weight and root activity of sowing depth of 10 cm was higher than that of 2 cm by 25.27%?30.13%?21.69%?21.6%.When the rhizome enlargement stage,the root length,root surface area,root weight and root activity of earth up to 20 cm was higher than that of not by 7.5%?5.37%?14.48%?4.7%.5.When the seedling stage,there was no significant difference in net photosynthetic rate between treatments.When the rhizome enlargement stage,the net photosynthetic rate of stage covering soil to 10 cm depth was higher than that of 2?10 cm by 22.62%?4.05%,and earth up to 20 cm was higher than not by 7.04%.The Fv/Fm,?PS?and qP of stage covering soil to 10 cm depth was higher than that of 2 cm by 2.51%?17.6%?3.36%,but the effect of earth up on Fv/Fm and qP was not significant,the?PS? of earth up to 20 cm was higher than not by 5.03%.6.The sowing depth and earth up had a significant effect on the content of GA,ABA,ZR,but there was no significant effect on the content of IAA,stage covering soil to 10 cm depth was significantly lower in GA than in other treatments,but the contents of ABA and ZR were significantly higher than other treatments,the contents of GA of stage covering soil to 10 cm depth was lower than that of 2?6?10 cm by 20.27%?8.07%?5.96%,in terms of ABA,stage covering soil to 10 cm depth was higher than that of 2?6?10 cm by 10.44%?3.72%?3.72%.The earth up has the tendency to reduce the GA content and increase the ABA and ZR content,but the effect on IAA content was not significant.In addition,stage covering soil to 10 cm depth and earth up significantly increased ABA/GA values.
