Forest Aerial Fire-fighting Exploration In West Sichuan Plateau

The average elevation in West Sichuan Plateau is 3500 meters.The plateau is in southeastern margin of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau,and it is the highest terrain in Sichuan Province.It is the Chengdu station of State Forestry Administration Southern Aviation Forest Station that bear the task of the forest aerial fire-fighting mission in the region.There are more than 70 peaks that are 5500 meters above sea level in the forest aerial fire-fighting protection zone of the western Sichuan Plateau,The gap between these peaks reaches 3000 meters.The Yalong River,the Minjiang River and the Dadu River and other rivers are criss-crossing,the terrain is complex and the climatic conditions are changing.But the forest resources are rich,and there are great varieties of rare animals and plants.The tourist attractions here are famous both at home and abroad,it has always been a national forest fire-fighting key area,and also the most difficult areas to carry out the forest aerial fire-fighting operations for both China and even the world.In this paper,we did some exploration and research about the domestic forest aerial fire-fighting common used fire-extinguishing helicopter models,helicopter water-intaking,sprinkling water fire extinguishing methods and so on,and did the case analysis of the western Sichuan Plateau forest aerial fire-fighting.All the results show that: on the basis of existing conditions,Small helicopters using suitcase water tank sprinkler is more suitable for the western Sichuan plateau forest aerial direct fire-fighting operations.In the end,the author discussed the prospects of the forest aerial fire-fighting operations in high altitude areas.
