Paeonia szechuanica is famous as an ornamental plant in the world.In recent years,a large number of natural populations have different degrees of damage because of its important economic and ecological value,the older plants is missing,the overall number of Paeonia szechuanica gradually reduce,and naturalpopulation grow slowly.So analysis of Paeonia szechuanica and its effective protection strategy is imperative.This paper analyzed the habitats population classification and sorting,population life table,survival curve,the types of distribution pattern,seed germination and so on.For Paeonia szechuanica,the endangered reasons and ecological strategies from the views of community ecology,population ecology,reproductive ecology of this species were dicussed.The result are as follows:24 samples of Paeonia szechuanica habitat communities were divided into 10 types of plant association by quantitative classification of the method of TWINSPAN.The result of CCA samples and species ordination revealed the relationship between the distribution pattern of Paeonia szechuanica habitat communities and slope,altitude,soil moistur.And the types of Paeonia szechuanica habitat communities are mainly determined by the distribution pattern of dominant species,showing the change trend of Paeonia szechuanica habitat communities typesand species distribution with environmental.Static life table was compiled based on survey data.The results showed that age class distribution of Paeonia szechuanica population had difference among different samples.At habitats dominated by bush species,Paeonia szechuanica had more seedlings,indicating better regeneration and belonging to stable and growing population.At habitats dominated by tree species,Paeonia szechuanica had higher death rate of seedlings,indicating declining population.Principal component analysis showed that the average ground diameter and population density of Paeonia szechuanica was significantly affected by environmental factors,especially slope and soil moisture content.Through the analysis of population distribution pattern to determine index,the study area of Paeonia szechuanica species showed an aggregated distribution pattern.According to experiment of Paeonia szechuanica,we found GA3 can promote the seed rooting,but the GA3 treatments made the rooting rate lower than control group,increase the rotting rate.The turf with small density,high organic matter content and water-holding ability,is conducive to the growth of root.turf combined with 0 mg/LGA3 are beneficial to seed rooting of Paeonia szechuanica.GA3 treatment can promote effectively the seed germination with roots length longer than 30 mm;root length is a dominant factor to the seed germination.It is optimum for seed germination,when root length more than 60 mm combined with 500 mg /L GA3.
