As the most basic natural source, water plays an important role in all aspects of our life, however, the shortage of water is becoming a barrier which we can’t ignore for the development of human society, especially agricultural industry. So it’s necessary to continue vigorously the research of water-saving irrigation technique, the moistube irrigation technique is invented in this situation. In order to research the relationship between water’s infiltrationand different pressure heads, soil bulk density and soil structure under moistube irrigation, and the growth status of cabbages in green house with moistube irrigation technology, and validate the advantages of this technology in aspect of improving the crops’ output and performance of water saving, indoor soil box imitation experiments and outdoor planting experiments were done.Indoor experiments: three pressure heads(2.0m,1.5m,1.0m),three bulk density(1.20g/cm3,1.30g/cm3,1.40g/cm3)and two soil structure(clay loam soil and clay soil)was set. Then three indicators: accumulative infiltration, wetting front and soil water content were measured. The result revealed that the accumulative infiltration of water had positive correlation with pressure headswhile it had negative correlation with soil bulk density and clay’s content of soil;the discharge of moistube had relationship of linear and increasing function with pressure heads on the condition of air and burying, and the former was greater than the latter markedly under the same pressure;the wetting front was an approximate circle whose centre was moistube;the horizontal movement distance and the vertical upward movement distance were larger than the vertical downward movement, gravity had certain effect on water movement under moistube irrigation, but the effect was weaker and weaker with the increasing soil bulk density and clay’s content of soil;the movement distance of wetting front could be presented by a power function of irrigation time;the infiltration rate and soil water holding capacity were decreased with the increasing soil bulk density and clay’s content of soil;according to counting, the irrgation uniformity of moistube irrigation was up to the mustard.Outdoor experiments:five kinds of processes was set, including single tube layout, double tube layout, deeper burying, shallower burying and ordinary irrigation, every process is repeated three times. The water pressure was set at2 m,and the corresponding indicators such as stem length, soil water content and others were measured regularly. The result revealed that moistube tube’s layout and buried depth were the important factors of growth and water consumption of cabbages. In this experimental condition, single tube layout had an advantage over double tube layout, and buried depth in 3.5cm had an advantage over buried depth in 8cm.Compared with ordinary irrigation, moistube irrigationcould improve the crops’ output obviously, but the performance of water saving failed to be validated in this research, more experiments need to be carried out.The conclusion of this experiment provides theoretical reference for the parameters’ s design of moistube irrigation system.
