The plasticity of plants is the size of the ability to change the characteristic traits of plants. It is generally believed that the size of the plant's plasticity is influenced by the internal genes of the plant, and is also influenced by the environment. In the process of plant adaptation to environmental changes, the size of the plasticity of different characteristic traits often shows a difference.Photoperiod plays an important role in plants, affecting the growth, flowering and geographical distribution of plants.Helianthus Jerusalem artichoke,as a resource plant with great potential for development,is highly adaptable. It can be planted in a lot of barren areas such as wasteland, mountain area and saline alkali land in China. The study of the effect of photoperiod on the growth of Jerusalem artichoke in different families is beneficial to breeding and popularizing the varieties of Jerusalem artichoke suitable for different latitudes. This experiment using Jerusalem artichoke as the research object,8 families of Jerusalem artichoke(named as r3,d5,d6,j1,j4,j5,17,and 47)were treated with two treatments to prolong and shorten the light time in the vegetative period of Jerusalem artichoke. To studied the response of photoperiod treatment to the morphology, flowering and biomass of Jerusalem artichoke.Through analyzing the main morphological characteristics of all Jerusalem artichoke(leaf length, leaf width, leaf number and plant height)and biomass characteristics,we found that after the change of photoperiod environment, the plasticity of Jerusalem artichoke morphological characteristics is greater than that of biomass characteristics. No matter the duration of light was prolonged or shortened, the length, width and number of leaves of Jerusalem artichoke showed a significant increase, but there was no significant change in tuber biomass and aboveground biomass and tuber biomass allocation. The lengthening and shortening of light time have different effects on the growth of Jerusalem artichoke. The characteristics of leaf length of Jerusalem artichoke as an example, extend the light time and processing of Jerusalem artichoke leaf length will not have a significant impact, but reduce the light time will make the leaf length of Jerusalem artichoke increased significantly;while lengthening and shortening the light time,Jerusalem artichoke leaf width, plant height and leaf number increased however, shorten the light time, increase the amplitude ofthe performance is more obvious. At the same time, the different families of Jerusalem artichoke showed differences after experimental treatment.family 17 and family r3 have better plasticity in morphological characteristics compared with family d6.For morphological characteristics, families with smaller numerical values in control group can get a more significant increase after experimental treatment, especially family 17.The family D6 had the highest tuber biomass and aboveground biomass in the control group, and the highest family biomass and tuber biomass were family j5 after shortening the light time. There are differences in growth characteristics, flowering and aboveground biomass allocation in different families under shorter or longer light duration. Therefore,it is possible to screen Jerusalem artichoke for different families with higher or lower latitudes and different production needs.
