It is labor-consuming and low-efficient to harvest sugarcane,one of the primary cash crops in Guangxi.Minitype sugarcane harvesters are of great market potentials which are small,lightweight,lowcost,durable and suitable for hilly lands in Guangxi and other regions.Based on the analysis of sugarcane harvesters' operating environment and the wear mechanism of their sickles,this paper presents the development of bimetallic wear-resistant sickles.The research is done as follow:1.Based on the analysis of the wear mechanism of the sickles,the paper puts forward the development of bimetallic wear-resistant sickles on whose working surfaces are the hardfacing layers.2.Through the composition design of the wear resistant metal on the sickles,the surfacing slag system,CaO-CaF2-SiO2,is decided.And with the composition design of electrode coating,high Cr cast iron surfacing electrodes are manufactured with the comparison of electrodes' welding procedure.3.The final formula of high Cr cast iron surfacing electrodes is based on the measurement of transfer efficiency of alloy elements,phase composition,microstructure,hardness,friction coefficient and wear rate of test panels'hardfacing layers and the work of comparing and analyzing these data and optimizing the formula.4.Bimetallic wear-resistant sickles are manufactured with the surfacing technology and the processing technology based on the analysis of the weldability of bimetallic wear-resistant sickles' 20#steel as matrix material.
