Research On Introduction And Silage Test Of Four Sweet Sorghum Varieties

In order to explore possibility to develop the sweet sorghum to solve the problem of shortage of high quality forage in South China.We study the local hybrid Pennisetum(BD1)and 4 varieties of sweet sorghum,including Ji Tianza 1(JZ1),Ji Tianza 2(JZ2),Ji Tianza 4(JZ4),Ji Tianza 5(JZ5)which are from Shandong Provincial Academy of Agricultural Sciences in 2014.The main results of regional test and evaluation of nutritive value of the test in the Nanning area of the Guangxi Institute of animal husbandry forage planting base are as follows:1.The growth period duration of tested sweet sorghum varieties are different,the longest BDI days are 188 days,the shortest varieties JZ5 days are 141 days,and the difference between the two days was 47 days.The varieties can rank by JZ5<JZ1<JZ4<JZ2<BD1 according to the number of days from short to long,all varieties have completed the growth cycle in Nanning.2..The production performance test indicates that annual grass yield of sweet sorghum varieties JZ1,JZ2,JZ4 and JZ5 are 91056.22kg/hm2,103043.63 kg/hm2,108439.62 kg/hm2,79238.19kg/hm2,respectively.The production of CK BD1 is 55501.63 kg/hm2,JZ4 does the highest production,followed by JZ2,JZ4 and JZ2,JZ1 and there’s no significant differences,and the difference was significant when compared to JZ5.There’s significant difference between the five varieties and control.The first clipping of the 5 varieties accounted for the total annual output of 57.72%,51.21%,51.0739%,57.84%,27.15%,respectively.Plant height from high to low were:JZ4>JZ2>JZ1>JZ5>BD1,the difference between introduced varieties and native varieties was significant.The assay results of Stem traits show that the stem diameter of JZ2 is the biggest and it is 2.11cm,BD1 stem diameter is the smallest,and the stem diameter is 1.65cm,the difference is significant.JZ1 and JZ5 are also thicker than BD1,but the difference was not significant.The order of the number of nodes from high to low is JZ2,JZ4,JZ1,JZ5,BD1,the difference between the maximum and minimum was small,and the difference among the varieties is not significant.Rod length is positively correlated with plant height,among which the highest is JZ4,followed by JZ2,the lowest is BD1,and the difference between the highest and lowest is significant.There is no significant difference of rod weight among the varieties,and the highest rod weight is JZ2,followed by JZ4.The spike and kernel characters show that JZ2 has the longest panicle length and the heaviest grain weight per panicle,and it perform good.The 1000 grain weight of cultivar JZ1 is the biggest among the 5 varieties and it is 33.11,which indicates that the seed is the most plump and the quality is the best.There’s varied color between the 5 varieties,JZ1 and BD1 show yellow color,JZ4 and JZ5 are light yellow,and JZ2’s color is light brown.Measurement of germination traits shows that germination rate from high to low in order are:JZ2,JZ4,JZ5,BD1,JZ1;germination rate from high to low order are:JZ2,JZ5,JZ1,JZ4,BD1;germination index in descending order are;JZ2,JZ4,JZ5,BD1,JZ1,the vigor index in descending order are:JZ2,JZ5,JZ4,JZ1,BD1,there’s no significant difference between the indexes,and JZ2 refers to the relatively good sprouting characteristic traits.The leaf stem ratio assay results show that JZ2 shows relatively large three crop average stem which is 1.50,followed by JZ1 1.24,and the other three varieties are about 1.Measurement of nutritional indexes in varieties show that the crude protein content of JZ25 at jointing stage is the highest,reaching 9.05%,and this data has no significant difference to JZ2 and JZ4,which are significantly higher than that of JZ1 and BD1,and JZ4 have the highest dry matter content,JZ1 contains highest total energy,which is 16.21MJ/Kg.As to the fiber component,JZ5 shows relatively higher neutral detergent fiber(ADF)contents than other varieties.The highest crude fat was BD1,reaching 14.8%,but the crude ash,calcium,phosphorus and other indicators are not significantly different among the varieties.3.From the evaluation results of biological characteristics,the high comprehensive score of varieties are JZ5 and BD1,the middle comprehensive score of JZ2,and the lowest is JZ1 which is infected with leaf spot disease.From the observation results of lodging resistance,there’s no lodging occurring in BD1,and there’s slight lodging occurring in JZ4,JZ2,and the lodging degree is 1.The lodging of JZ1 and JZ5 are the most serious.4.We test the silage(single and mixed storage)performance to the sweet sorghum JZ4 which shows good traits,the results show that the semi dry-storage of sweet sorghum obviously perform much good than the fresh-storage method fresh,and the ratio of white lentils to fresh sweet sorghum is 1:1,thus is a good combination of silage,while the effect is better when the ratio of fresh white lentils to semi dry combined with sweet sorghum silage is bigger than 1:1.5.Combining the above points,the 4 tested varieties of sweet sorghum can be introduced to Guangxi Nanning,and the best varieties are JZ4,JZ2,and it is better to apply semi dry method for the single silage storage,it is better for mixed storage combined with legumes when the ratio is bigger than 1:1.5.
