| Science and technology popularization was an important part of the scientific and educational undertakings during the Republic of China.Therefore,in the study of the history of the Republic of China,science and technology popularization has become an indispensable part of it.Among them,the Suiyuan region has become an important object that attracts the people of insight in the wave of developing the northwest.Therefore,the investigation of science and technology popularization activities in the area is a problem worthy of in-depth study.The science and technology popularization work in the Suiyuan region has gradually started against the background of natural disasters.This is due to the agriculture which based on the local industry,and its production mode is extremely extensive.Good harvest or poor harvest depends on whether it has natural disaster or not.The public mainly rely on long-term accumulated experience for production,and reserve fewer for scientific production knowledge and methods.Therefore,when weather conditions are poor,disasters are likely to occur.In 1928-1929,a major natural disaster occurred in the Suiyuan region,the affected population was about 80% of the total population,and the affected area covered almost all the province,but this disaster also catalyzed the development of science and technology popularization in the Suiyuan region.After the disaster,special scientific institutions haveemerged to popularize scientific knowledge,especially in agricultural science and technology,in order to improve people's ability for flood prevention and disasters resistance.This paper based on the expert who has intensive study in this region.The thesis set out from the perspective of science communicationscience and technology popularization,took out the agricultural communication activities and analyzed the features of Suiyuan.In this paper,agricultural science and technology popularization against the background of natural disasters in Suiyuan region are studied.First,we sorted out the background of agricultural science and technology popularization in that period of time.Searching out the relationship among the science and technology popularization,natural disaster and agriculture.The agricultural production mode in this area is extensive,farmers living level is not stable.As the effected of social factors,the natural disaster occurred frequently.When it had disaster,the government not took the post-disaster prevention but the emergency mechanism.The emergence of major natural disasters from 1928 to 1929 prompted the emergence of specialized scientific institutions in the area and its content was mainly the spread of agricultural science and technology knowledge.Secondly,this paper analyzed the activities of agricultural science and technology popularization in Suiyuan.Chose Suiyuan Agricultural Institute as a start point to work out the science activities of the SuiyuanAgricultural Institute.This chapter not only sorts out the history of the Suiyuan Agricultural Institute but also clarified the organization of personal form.Above all we can get the activities of the agricultural science and technology popularization activities in this region.It is one of the main goal of this paper.Through sorting out and analyzing historical materials,it was discovered that the Suiyuan Agricultural Institute mainly conducted three popular science activities during its establishment,those were published popular science publications,conducted scientific investigations,and collected and collated specimens.These activities reflected the popular science status of the Suiyuan Agricultural Institute and indirectly map out the agricultural popularization status in the Suiyuan region.Thirdly,this paper is based on the science publications published by the Suiyuan Agricultural Institute,Suiyuan Agricultural Institute Academic Journal,Han Pu,and Sui Nong(Suiyuan Agriculture)as the foundation.It is focused on the afforestation of special issue in HanPu.we will use this as an example to explore the characteristics of the science text publishedby Suiyuan Agricultural Institute.The scientific and popular texts in this special issue quoted a large number of scientific research achievements to enhance the credibility and persuasiveness of the article and intuitively clarified the scientific principles through the comparison of the data.It also combined the reality of this region.In order to make it more targeted,thisunion the facts and science principles.These articles not only improved the people's planting quality,but also brought the positive effects on the public and such benefit as rising their ability to reduce natural disasters.This part reflects the scientific outlook of Suiyuan Agricultural Institute in detail,through the analysis of the scientific text of afforestation special issue.Based on the analysis of the above content,the author finds that the popularization of agricultural science and technology in Suiyuan has strong practicality in 1928-1937.The science popularization in the Suiyuan area has emerged against the background of natural disasters.It popularized scientific knowledge directed to the natural disasters,focused on practicality,and was conducive to improving people's ability to fight disasters and reduce disasters.This has also provided lessons for current disaster prevention and reduction work.In addition,the popularization of agricultural science and technology in this region will localize knowledge of agricultural science and technology.The Suiyuan Agricultural Institute use its publications as a vehicle to popularize the knowledges.And it also gave a great number of instances to make it localize.This is a process of localizing agricultural knowledge,which has certain enlightenment significance for the current science and technology popularization. |
