1 Objective The purpose of this study is to observe modified decoction of Wen Dan Tang to qi depression phlegm obstruction type in Non Erosive Reflux Disease(NERD) clinical curative effect and the impact after treatment on patients quality of life and to evaluate the long-term curative effect of modified decoction of Wen Dan Tang on NERD disease after treatment.2 Methods Sixty patients of which all measure up to the diagnostic standard were randomly divided into two equivalent groups, that is treatment group and control group. The treatment group was treated with modified decoction of Wen Dan Tang orally while the control group was treated with Ray Bella plus Mosapride orally and the treatment course lasted for eight weeks. Then recorded all patients about the clinical symptoms, traditional Chinese medicine syndrome and quality of life pre-therapy and after treatment by using the method of questionnaire survey to evaluate the curative effect. After three month's treatment,go for a follow-up visit, record symptom score again and calculate the recurrence rate.3 Results 3.1 Evaluation of Reflux Diagnostic Questionnaire 3.1.1 Integral comparison of all sympton within the group At the end of the 4th week, the 8th week treatment and the follow-up, compared with pre-therapy, each symptom's integral of the two groups were decreased, and have statistical difference(P<0.01 or P<0.05). 3.1.2The comparison between treatment group and control group At the end of the 4th week, the score of treatment group in heartburn, acid reflux and regurgitation is lower than that of the control group, and there exists statistical difference(P<0.05)while no statistical difference in terms of chest pain(P>0.05); At the end of the 8th week, the treatment group integral in all these terms is lower than the control group(P<0.01 or P<0.05). 3.1.3 The comparison of symptom total integral, effective rate and recurrence rate between two group At the end of the 4th week, the 8th week treatment and the follow-up,the total symptom integral of treatment group was lower than that of control group and there exists difference(P<0.01);The effective rate of the treatment group(90%)was significantly higher than that of the control group(66.67%)(P<0.05).During the follow-up,the recurrence rate of the treatment group(6.7%) was significantly lower than that of the control group(26.27%)(P<0.05). 3.2 TCM syndrome evaluation 3.2.1 Comparison of all sympton within the group At the end of the 4th week, the sympton integral of the treatment group was lower than that pre-therapy(P<0.01). The sympton integral of control group in reflux, night cough, irritability, diarrhea, anorexia, belching was lower than pre-therapy points(P<0.01 or P<0.05),while there is no obvious difference in the other symptoms(P>0.05). At the end of the 8th week, the integral of each group was significantly lower than that pre-therapy(P < 0.01). 3.2.2The treatment group compared with the control group At the end of the 4th week, the integral of treatment group in the throat adverse, reflux, night cough, irritability lower than that of control group(P<0.01 or P<0.05), and no significance difference regarding the chest pain, belching, anorexia, loose stools(P>0.05).At the end of the 8th week, the treatment group in respect of the throat negative, reflux, night cough, belching, irritability scored lower than the control group(P<0.01 or P<0.05). Yet, there was no statistically significant difference in the other symptoms(P>0.05). 3.2.3 Comparison of the total integral and effective rate At the end of 4th week treatment, the 8th week treatment and follow-up,the total integral of treatment group was lower than the control group(P<0.01 or P<0.05)and the effective rate of treatment group(93.3%) was higher than that of control group(66.67%)(P<0.05). 3.3 Evaluation of SF-36 At the end of 8th week, the integral of treatment group in the physiological function of patients(RP), social function(SF), emotional function(RE),score increased significantly higher than the control group(P < 0.01 or P<0.05) while there was no significant difference in mental health(MH) and physiological function(PF)(P > 0.05).During the follow-up, the integral of treatment group in the physical pain(BP), energy(VT), general health(GH), score increased significantly higher than the control group(P < 0.01 or P<0.05) while there was no significant difference in patients(RP) and physiological function(PF)(P > 0.05).4 Conclusion Modified decoction of Wen Dan Tang has significant advantages in alleviating the clinical symptoms of NERD disease and improving the patients' quality of life. It also reduces the recurrence rate, and plays a more ideal long-term efficacy.
