Objectives To observe the relationship between Cs A level in serum and the response to immunosuppressive therapy(IST) in patients with acquired aplastic anemia(AA), and to evaluate the factors that influence Cs A level. The factors that may predict the response to IST in patients with AA also have been investigated. Methods 41 cases of patients who had newly diagnosed as AA were enrolled into this study. The Cs A level of the patients were examined periodically. Nine factors which may be relevant with Cs A level were analyzed, which include IFN-? level?peripheral blood condition before treatment?albumin content?EPO?T cell subset?interval from diagnose to IST?serum creatinine?gender and age. Results 1.Compared with the no-response group, the Cs A level of response group were significiently higher in the second ? third week and the third month[(180.3±38.3)ng/m L vs(118.5±37.5)ng/m L]?[(250.4±81.2) ng/m L vs(154.1±42.0)ng/m L] [(254.9±109.0)ng/m L vs(116.1±28.4) ng/m L](all P<0.01).2.The IFN-? level and the albumin level was positively correlated with the Cs A level in the third month(r=0.588,P=0.003;r=0.633.P<0.01).3.The interval time was negtively correlated with the Cs A level(r=-0.607, P<0.01). And the response rate of patients whose interval from diagnose to IST shorterthan 21 days was significiently higher than the others(71.4% vs. 16.1%, P<0.01).The age was negtively correlated with the Cs A level(r=-0.471,P=0.002). And the response rate of patients younger than 40 years was higher than those older than 40years(88.9% vs. 43.5%, P<0.05).4.The concentration of EPO and serum creatinine had no correlation with the Cs A level(all P>0.05). The response rate in male patients and female patients, had no significient difference(P>0.05). There was no significient difference in peripheral blood condition before treatment between the response group and no-response group(P>0.05).Conclusions Early acquiring and maintaining effective level of Cs A in serum indicate good response to IST. Meanwhile, IFN-? level?albumin content?interval from diagnose and gender to IST were important influential factors to the Cs A level in serum, and can be used as the predicting factors to IST.
