Biofeedback started from the 1920s with helping patients do relaxation training by means of monitoring the EMG activity. It developed from EMG feedback to all sorts of biofeedback, thermal feedback, EEG feedback, ECG feedback, blood pressure feedback, etc. Biofeedback technology is mainly used in psychological and postoperative rehabilitation therapy.Traditional types of electrical stimulation are mainly neuromuscular electrical stimulation, triggered electrical stimulation and power assisted electrical stimulation. This paper analyses the characteristics of the mainstream electrical stimulation for clinic use and develops a functional electrical stimulation instrument according to the clinic treatment effect. The technical solution of this project is achieved through the following steps:collecting electromyographic (EMG) signal from the nonparetic, amplifying it by instrumentation amplifier AD623, conduct circuit filtering processing by AD8609 and A/D conversion by MCU, and finally display it on LCD screen by the host computer software of the main control module of ARM11. At the same time, real-time electrical stimulation of the specific intensity, pulse width and frequency of is given to stimulate the paretic by the chip circuit LMV324 according to the real-time EMG signal collected from the nonparetic.According to the characteristics of contralaterally controlled functional electric stimulation, this paper verifies the analysis through the performance test and the actual clinical use of the system using three-step ratio calculation method. The system developed in this paper can achieve the level of weak EMG signal processing and the Software algorithms and running programs can satisfy the clinical use. It also supports multiple channels and can be carried out at the same time for many people to treat. Different from traditional electrical stimulation devices, this device has the advantages of small volume, high portability and friendly human computer interaction, and can provide a better experience for doctors and patients and a new solution for the treatment of limb rehabilitation.
