Objective:To observe the nasal ciliary length and morphology development regularity at different gestational age and different day-age by scanning electron microscope, which is of great importance to provide the reference to the research on human nasal mucosa cilia length, and provides the theoretical basis to further study on the ciliary length regulatory mechanism. Methods:Female mice were mated with normal Male mice in order to make female mice pregnant, then we dissect the pregnant mouse at different gestational age and dissect the infant mouse at different day age to take its nasal septum mucosa, observe the morphology and measure the length of nasal cilia by scanning electron microscope at embryonic day 14 and 16 d, and neonatal day 1, 7, 14, 21 d,then by statistical methods, analyze the difference of the cilia length at different time points, learn about the cilia length development regularity.Result:According to the measurement by the scanning electron microscopy(sem), the average length of nasal cilia at embryonic day 16 and neonatal day 1?7?14?21 were respectively 0.57 ± 0.12?m, 2.38 ± 0.50?m, 2.56 ± 0.46?m, 3.41 ± 0.43?m,3.40 ± 0.65?m, the results show that N1 and N7 day cilia length have no statistical difference, N14 and N21 days of cilia length has no statistical significance difference(P > 0.05), but the E16 and N1?7 day cilia length difference is statistically significant,N1 ? 7 days of cilia and N14 ? 21 days of cilia length difference is statistically significant(P < 0.05).Conculsion:Nasal mucosa cilia began to grow at embryonic day 16. the ciliary length increase gradually.embryonic 16 day to born, two weeks after born to three weeks after born, are the peak of the cilia length, about two weeks after birth when the length of the cilia levels have been close to adult mice.
