Objective: To evaluate the clinical effect of transurethral resection of prostate(TURP) for benign prostatic hyperplasia(BPH) patients with detrusor areflexia and bladder outlet obstruction(BOO). Methods:We retrospectively reviewed the records of 28 consecutive benign prostatic hyperplasia(BPH) patients who were diagnosed as detrusor areflexia in The first affiliated hospital of Xiamen university between May 2008 and Aug 2013. All the patients accepted transurethral resection prostate(TURP) surgery. All the patients had integrated clinical information, such as international prostate symptom score(IPSS), free urinary flow rate(Qmax) and residual urine volume(PVR) and so on. The preoperative and 12 months postoperative clinical index including international prostate symptom score(IPSS), free urinary flow rate(Qmax) and residual urine volume(PVR) of the patients were recorded and statistically analyzed by T test,chi-square test and Logistic test.Statistical analyses were processed using SPSS version 16.0; p < 0.05 was considered statistically significant. Results:The preoperative clinical index including international prostate symptom score(IPSS), Pdet, free urinary flow rate(Qmax),and residual urine volume(PVR) were 35 core 、 0 cmH2 O 、 0 ml/S 、 369.58 ml respectively. The 12 months postoperative clinical index including international prostate symptom score(IPSS), Pdet, free urinary flow rate(Qmax) and residual urine volume(PVR) were 15.72 core、33.71 cmH2O、12.67 ml/S、42.73 ml respectively. And we found there was significant difference(P<0.001). Conclusion:Transurethral prostatic resection(TURP) surgery is effective for benign prostate hyperplasia(BPH) patients with detrusor areflexia.
