Objective: To investigate the recovery of bladder detrusor after transurethral resection of the prostate(TURP). Methods: The clinical data and urodynamic data before and after TURP of 106 BPH patients were reviewed. The cases were divided into 3 groups by the contractility of the bladder detrusor of preoperation, The powerful group(A), The weak group(B) and the normal group(C). Compared the differences of every index of preoperation with postoperation of the 3 groups and the differences of every index among the 3 groups before and after TURP, meanwhile, the statistic analysis was carried out. Results: (1) The IPSS score, QOL score and the post void residual urine volume(PVR) decreased and the Qmax improved compared with the preoperation in the 3(A, B, C) groups, the differences were statistical significance (P <0.05); the detrusor pressure(Pdet) decreased in group A and increased in group C after TURP, the differences were statistical significance (P <0.05), while there was no statistical significance in group C before and after TURP (P >0.05). (2) There were no statistical differences of IPSS score, QOL score and Qmax among the three groups before TURP (P >0.05). For IPSS score and QOL score, there were no statistical differences between group A and group C after TURP (P >0.05), while there were statistical differences between group A and group B, group C and group B (P <0.05), the IPSS score and QOL score in group A and groupC were lower than that in group B; For Qmax, there was statistical difference among the three groups after TURP (P <0.05), it was higher in group A than that in group C and group B, and higher in group C than that in group B (P <0.05). Conclusions: The recovery of the bladder function postoperation are closely correlated with the functional status of the bladder detrusor preoperation, The ones who have stronger detrusor contractility preoperation can get a better recovery postoperation. For those who have normal detrusor contractility or who are in the functional compensation stage and have detrusor hyperreflexia, if the bladder outlet obstruction were got rid of in time a better detrusor recovery may get postoperation; For those who are in the decompensation stage and have the weak detrusor contractility, we also should get rid of the obstruction, So, the further impairment of the bladder and the upper urinary can be avoided.
