Objective: By measuring and comparing myopic astigmatism eye ciliary sulcus diameter size, analysis the relationship between the orientation of corneal astigmatism and the direction of the longest sulcus to sulcus distance,explore the astigmatism compensation mechanism that a compensatory process exists between corneal astigmatism and internal astigmatism to minimize refractive astigmatism in myopic patients.Methods: 44 cases(58 eyes) with myopia in the center of myopia and cataract in our hospital were enrolled. According to the difference of the anterior corneal astigmatism, the testing eyes were divided into two groups: group A Corneal astigmatism(CA?1.00D), B group(1.00 D<CA?2.50D).Furthermore, the 30, 90, 60, 120, 150 and 180 degree ciliary sulcus diameters were checked by full-scale 50-Hz ultrasound biomicroscopy. The corneal astigmatism were checked by corneal topography.Results: In group A, the corneal maximum refractive power radial direction and the maximum diameter of the ciliary sulcus coincidence rate were smaller than that of the B group. Chi square test difference was statistically significant(P=0.03). Analysis of variance were compared in group A and group B 6 direction of ciliary sulcus diameter results suggest that: in group A,the 60, 90, 120 degree direction of the ciliary sulcus diameters were significantly larger than the30, 150, 180 degree, there was no significant difference between 60, 90 and 120 degree, there was no significant difference between 30,150 and 180 degree. In group B, 90 degree direction of the ciliary sulcus diameter was significantly larger than the other direction.Conclusion: In the with-the-rule astigmatism myopic eyes,with the increase of corneal astigmatism, the direction of the largest diameter of the ciliary sulcus has a tendency to focus on the vertical direction. Ciliary muscle thickness in the vertical direction than in the horizontal direction of the ciliary muscle is thin. So the change of the ciliary muscle shape may be formed by the compensation effect of the lens on the corneal astigmatism.
