Application Of SBAR Model In Cultivation Of Critical Thinking Ability For Emergency Department Nurses

Objective:Describing the critical thinking disposition of emergency department nurses in experimental group before and after application of SBAR model. And to further explore the effect on the critical thinking disposition of emergency department nurses in experimental group after application of SBAR model, providing theoretic basis for improving the hospital nurses'critical thinking disposition.Methods:The SBAR model training and application were determined by designing of a questionnaire used in a pilot survey. We investigate the critical thinking disposition of the emergency department nurses between a hospital emergency department nurses in Wuxi city for regular training and our hospital emergency department nurses for SBAR model training in a controlled way at same time, by using pilot survey, the basic information of nurses, the Critical Thinking Disposition Inventory (CTDI-CV) Chinese Version and oral questions. These data by collecting and checking were processed by SPSS software package (Version 17.0). Descriptives or T-test or Chi-square were performed and/ p<0.05 was recognized as significant.Results:1. Before the SBAR model training, the critical thinking disposition of our hospital emergency department nurses and a hospital emergency department nurses in Wuxi city was lowed and needed to be improved.2. After SBAR model training, compared with routinization training of a hospital emergency department nurses in Wuxi city, the critical thinking disposition of experimental group emergency department nurses has been significantly improved, but there are a certain distance away from the strong critical thinking disposition.3. It was suggested that nursing workers and managers have been strengthen the cultivation of individual nurses of critical thinking disposition, especially for truth-seeking and systematic disposition.Conclusion:1. Nurses in experimental group emergency department and a hospital emergency department in Wuxi city do not have a solid strength in the disposition toward critical thinking, although they have positive disposition toward critical thinking.2. After the SBAR model training, nurses demonstrate strength in inquisitiveness and confidence of critical thinking disposition, but the truth-seeking and systematic disposition is poor.3. SBAR model training could significantly improve the nurses'critical thinking disposition.
