An Investigation And Analysis On The Status Of MRI Configuration And Use In Xinjiang Area

Objective: to analyze the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region medical magnetic resonance imaging equipment(MRI)configuration status,evaluating MRI utilization in Xinjiang and around of the city,as well as providing some suggestions for Xinjiang second-class large-scale MRI equipment allocation and management.Methods:By reviewing the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region statistical yearbook from year 2011-2015 and the statistical tables offered by the health authority department to get the basic situation in each areas,making a comparison of the data from year 2011-015.Selecting the secondary medical institutions facilitated with MRI in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region(excluding the construction Corps,the military hospital,non-public medical institutions),recording their MRI configuration and utilization in 2011-2015 in order to finalize a comprehensive evaluation by way of questionnaire survey and interviews.Results: from 2011 to 2015,the number of MRI was increased from 28 to 81(an increase of 189%).Most of the areas are dominated with 1.5T MRI,the 3.0 T MRI is the least one than other types.most of them are imported from other countries.It was showed that in the all 14 prefectures,Hotan,Bozhou,Karamay Oblast,Turpan area have the least numbers of MRI,and the city which has the most numbers of MRI is Urumqi.From year 2011 to 2015,the total number of physicians,bed number,MRI number showed a steady growth trend,in which the largest increase is the number of MRI(189%).In the four investigated areas,Kashi and Aletai are extremely lack of medical resources.the number of medical institutions,beds/per ten thousand people,physicians/ per ten thousand people,MRI,MRI positive rate are all lower than in Urumqi and Changji area.In aspects of MRI examination of patients,the time of the MRI running each day,the days of running in each year,the most workload,the normal hours in the third-class hospitals are all higher than in the second-class hospital.But the time of each patients spended during the examination is lower than in the second-class.the difference is statistically significant(P<0.001);the third-class hospitals have a higher rate in Utilization of MRI(P<0.01),however,the MRI year utilization rate and year availability showed no significant difference(P>0.05).Conclusion: MRI and other health resources is affected by economy level and hospital scale,the north area is better facilitated than in the south area,the third-class hospitals is better than the second-class hospital,but the average usage is still not efficient enough,which has caused the waste of some resources.We suggest that hospitals,the medical staffs,the government,should make a joint effort in improving the MRI Utilization and reasonable resources distribution.
