Objective The aim of this study was to investigate the changes of superoxide dismutase(superoxide dismutase,SOD)activity and malondialdehyde(malondialdehyde,MDA)in hypertension patients with Vitamin D insufficiency or deficiency, and to explore its significance. Methods 129 physical examination people with vitamin D test were taken as the research object. On the date of testing,history-taking and blood pressure were collected,as well as the serum levels of superoxide dismutase(SOD)and malondialdehyde(MDA)measured.Grouped according to the indexs what were collected above. At last,58 patients were included in the hypertension group, and the other 71 patients were included in the control group. In the hypertension group,31 cases were found as Vitamin D insufficiency and 27 cases were Vitamin D deficiency. In the control group, the number of Vitamin D insufficiency and Vitamin D deficiency was 30 and 41.SOD activity was detected by hydroxylamine and MDA was detected by thiobarbituric acid. Results 1.Compared to the control group,SOD activity in hypertension group were obviously lower, but the content of MDA were higher significantly(both P<0.05);and the SOD activity of vitamin D deficiency decreased, but MDA content increased compared with the control group sufficiently(P<0.05);only MDA content in the patients with vitamin D insufficiency was higher than the control group(P<0.05).2.In the hypertension groups, compared to vitamin D insufficiency groups, the SOD activity of vitamin D deficiency decreased and MDA content increased significantly(P<0.05).3.In the control group, the content of MDA in the patients with vitamin D deficiency was higher than vitamin D insufficiency groups(P<0.05).Conclusion SOD activity decreased, but the content of MDA increased in hypertension patients with Vitamin D insufficiency or deficiency.Specifically, the changes was more obvious in the patients with vitamin D deficiency, which suggests that Vitamin D deficiency can lead to the higher oxidative stress level in hypertension patients and was related to the pathogenesis of hypertension.
