Objective In this study,we measured the levels of total antioxidant capacity(T-AOC),total superoxide dismutase(T-SOD)and malondialdehyde(MDA)of appropriate for gestational age(AGA)and small for gestational age(SGA),in order to investigate the relationship and mechanisms between oxidative stress and the pathogenesis of small for gestational age,and to provide ideas for clinical diagnosis and treatment and care.Method SGA infants who were admitted from January 2022 to December 2022 were enrolled as the experimental group(54 cases in the SGA group),and 32 healthy full-term infants were set as the AGA group. To collect general information such as gender, birth weight, gestational age and levels of total cholesterol(TC),triglycerides(TG),high-density lipoprotein cholesterol(HDL-C),low-density lipoprotein cholesterol(LDL-C),p H,Pa O2,Pa CO2,creatinine,urea nitrogen, uric acid. All subjects collected 2ml of arterial blood and then took the supernatant. All serum samples were stored in-80℃low-temperature refrigerator for sealed storage. All serum samples were operated according to the specifications of the kit.Determination of T-AOC,T-SOD and MDA levels in both groups.Result 1.The birth weight,HDL-C,T-SOD,T-AOC,p H and gestational age in SGA group were lower than AGA group,MDA level, creatinine, urea nitrogen, and uric acid were higher than the AGA group, the difference was significant(P<0.05).There was no significant difference between the two groups in gender, arterial blood gas oxygen partial pressure, carbon dioxide partial pressure, total cholesterol, triglyceride and LDL-C(P>0.05).Mothers in SGA group had higher probability of fetal preservation and higher urea nitrogen, while albumin was significantly lower than AGA group,P<0.05.However,there was no statistically significant difference between the two groups in adverse pregnant production history, maternal age,and blood creatinine and globulin levels in the last blood collection before delivery(P>0.05)2.MDA was negatively correlated with birth weight,T-SOD and T-AOC in SGA infants(r=-0.359,p=0.008;r=-0.314,p=0.021;r=-0.499,p<0.001),T-AOC was negatively correlated with hypertension disorders of pregnancy and maternal age(r=-0.372,p=0.006;r=-0.329,p=0.015),and T-AOC was positively correlated with birth weight(r=0.273,p=0.046).There is no correlation between serum T-SOD and gestational age in SGA infants. There is no correlation between serum T-SOD and birth weight in SGA infants.3.The results of multifactorial logistic regression analysis showed that MDA and Cr were independent risk factors of full-term SGA infants(p<0.05).Conclusion Oxidative stress levels are closely related to the small for gestational age.MDA and creatinine levels were higher in the SGA group compared to the AGA group and were independent risk factors for the development of SGA.T-AOC,MDA affects the birth weight of SGA.Hypertension disorders of pregnancy mainly affect the serum antioxidant capacity of small for gestational age.In addition, oxidative stress is related to the occurrence of coronary heart disease and diabetes. We should not only explore the pathogenesis of small for gestational age infants, but also strengthen the follow-up of SGA children to improve their life.
