Objective In recent years, the world’s attention and investment in mental health is increasing, but the psychological problems are increasing. Therefore,it is necessary to reflect on the traditional mental health model,to explore a more effective new model of mental health. The purpose of this study is to verify the applicability of mental health two-factor theory in Zhejiang normal adult group and disease group, and to understand the mental health status of different people in Zhejiang province. Methods According to Keyes’ theory of mental health, the questionnaire was used to investigate the negative and positive psychological health of 1900 normal people and 400 people with mental or physical illness respectively. This paper includes three studies. The first study and the second study have the same research methods. They carry out the confirmatory factor analysis: 1.The single factor model was used to construct a latent variable representing the mental health of the individual.2.The dual-Factor model constructs two latent variables, positive health and negative health.Positive health observation variables were 14 questions of subjective well-being.Negative health observation variables were GAD-7 total score,PHQ-9 total score and GHQ-12 total score.Study three methods: A dual-Factor analysis of mental health is perfomed using the selected scale, which is a positive health and negative health(psychopathology standard)indicator to investigate the normal people mental health status in Zhejiang Province. Results The fitting index of the two-factor model in both groups is more ideal by comparing the different models(CMIN/DF=3.63,RMR=0.04,RMSEA=0.095;CMIN/DF=5.10,RMR=0.07 RMSEA=0.101);According to the dual-Factor model of mental health quartile method, the people surveyed of Zhejiang Province were divided into four groups. The distribution results were consistent with those of foreign researches. The results between the six-point method and Keyes’ method were significantly different. The complete pathologic ratio of this study was higher than that of Keyes(4.7% higher); The complete healthy ratio of this study was lower than that of Keyes’(3.6% lower). In the normal people of Zhejiang Province,69.8% were completely mentally healthy,9.4% were completely sick,7.3% were susceptible,13.5% were symptomatic but self-satisfied.There was no significant difference in the distribution of mental health between male and female(χ~2= 4.783,P <0.443).There was a significant difference in the mental health status distribution of different age groups(χ~2= 222.43,P <0.001).Overall,the fully mental health proportion of the group under the age of 45 is lower than that of the group over the age of 45,while the fully sick proportion of the group under the age of 45 is higher than that of the group over the age of 45.Conclusion The dual-Factor model of mental health is suitable for normal people and disease people in Zhejiang Province.Mental health can be assessed using the Edinburgh Happiness Scale,PHQ-9,GAD-7 and GHQ-12.The evaluation method used in this study is more Operability. After the assessment,high-risk group of depression and anxiety could be recogonized, which provides a great convenience for the prevention and early detection of disease.
