Objective: To investigate the relationship between thyroid transcription factor-1(TTF-1)serum thyroid hormone and obstructive sleep apnea hypopnea syndrome(OSAHS)in hypertensive patients. Methods: Retrospective analysis conducted in 338 patients with suspected OSAHS in hypertensive patients of January 2015 to December2015 in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region People's Hospital Hypertension Department.According to Apnea Hypopnea Index(AHI),the patients were divided into 4groups:control group, mild OSAHS group, moderate OSAHS group and severe OSAHS group.40 patients were randomly selected from non-OSAHS group and severe OSAHS group.Serum TTF-1 levels were measured,And to detect the thyroid function of each group of patients;and to analyze its correlation with OSAHS.Results: According to the apnea hypopnea index(AHI),338 patients were divided into 4 groups: 134 patients in the non-OSAHS group,69 patients with mild OSAHS group,58 patients with moderate OSAHS group and 77 patients with severe OSAHS group. The levels of serum TTF-1 in40 patients with non-OSAHS and 40 patients with severe OSAHS were observed. There was no significant difference in TTF-1 levels between the two groups(P> 0.05).Comparison of thyroid hormones in four groups showed that free thyroxine(FT4)levels increased with OSAHS severity(P<0.05).Correlation analysis showed that FT4 had a significant correlation with gender,AHI and PRA.Stpwise multiple regression analysis uggested that AHI,Body Mass Index(BMI)and Plasma renin activity(PRA)were likely to be associated with changes in FT4 levels in patients with OSAHS(P <0.05).Conclusions: 1.There was no significant change in TTF-1 levels in OSAHS patients, and TTF-1 may not be a biomarker for screening OSAHS.2.OSAHS can cause changes in thyroid hormone levels.AHI,BMI and PRA are the major risk factors for the level of FT4 in OSAHS patients, suggesting that OSAHS may be a risk factor for thyroid disease.
