Effect Of Hemodiafiltration On Polymorphonuclear Neutrophil Phagocytic Function In Uremia Patients

Objective To observe the effects of hemodiafiltration(HDF)on phagocytic function of Polymorphonuclear neutrophil(PMN)in uremic patients.Methods Twenty-nine uremic patients were randomly selected.Uremic patients were treated with hemodiafiltration once.Neutrophil phagocytic rate(NPR),Neutrophil phagocytic index(NPI),blood urea nitrogen(BUN),creatinine(SCr),Highsensitivity C-reactive protein(hs-CRP),?2-microglobulin(?2-MG),serum kalium,serum phosphate were detected in uremic patients preand post-HDF.Twenty-five normal controls for general health examination in our hospital physical examination center were enrolled in this study.Phagocytic rate and phagocytic index of PMN were also assessed in control group,as the reference standard for evaluated the NPR and NPI in our study.The concentration of the bacterial liquid of 6xl08/mL was determined by turbidimetric method.After 30 min of incubation of blood samples of both uremic patients and health controls with Staphylococcus albus,smeared and then Wright Giemsa staining dyed,100 PMN were observed under a microscope,the NPR and NPI were calculated according to the formula,and other items were tested in clinical laboratory of our hospital.The data were processed bySPSS16.0 statistical software.The measurement data of normal distribution were expressed as(?x±s),and t test or Wilcoxon test was used for comparison between groups.P<0.05 was statistically significant.Results Phagocytic rate and phagocytic index of PMN of patients pre-HDF were lower than those of controls(P < 0.05).Among 29 uremic patients,a significant increase of the NPR was observed(P<0.05),while there was no statistically significant difference in NPI pre-and post-HDF(P>0.05).NPR and NPI of patients were significantly higher after the session,while the BUN,SCr,?2-MG,serum kalium and serum phosphate were significantly lower than those before(P<0.05).No statistically significant difference was observed in the level of hs-CRP pre-and post-session(P>0.05).Conclusion Phagocytic function of PMN is decreased in uremic patients.After single HDF session the phagocytic function of PMN in uremic patients is enhanced.
