A Systematic Discussion On The Diagnosis And Treatment Of Uremic Pruritus

Uremic pruritus(UP)is one of the most common complications of hemodialysis patients.It is associated with depression,the decline of life quality,the decrease of sleep quality and the increase of death rate.It has been listed as the key research project of kidney disease.The evaluations of UP degree can be divided into single-dimensional measurements and multi-dimensional measurements.Visual analogue scale?dermatology life quality index and the 5-D itch scale are tools to evaluate the degree of UP.The pathogenesis of UP is still unclear.It is generally believed that UP is related to the accumulation of uremia toxin,systemic inflammation,elevated histamine and opioid levels,dry skin and other factors.There is not a uniform standard for the treatment of UP.Treatments are proposed for its possible pathogenesis,including strengthening the clearance of uremic toxins and optimizing dialysis modes,reducing systemic inflammatory reaction,lowering plasma histamine level,reducing opioid substances,alleviating skin dryness and other methods.
