Objective: To investigate the diagnostic performance of multimode ultrasound for breast cancer, and analyze the influence of breast density and age. Methods: The multimode ultrasound imaging data of 143 patients with breast diseases in Tumor Hospital of Guangxi Medical University in August 2016 to February 2017 were retrospectively analyzed. The patients were divided into 2 groups of fatty and dense based on breast density,or the patients were divided into 2 groups: ?40 years and ?40 years.Pathological diagnosis was selected as golden standard, and the BI-RADS categories 4 and 5 of multimode ultrasound were regarded as positive results.ROC curve was used to evaluate the diagnosis performances of multimode ultrasound.Furthermore,Fisher's exact test was used to analyze the sensitivity of multimode ultrasound in different age groups and different breast density. Results: The 143 patients with breast lesion,BI-RADS 2 category of 10 cases,BI-RADS 3 category of 27 cases,BI-RADS 4 category of 75 cases,BI-RADS 5 category of 31 cases.93 cases with pathologically confirmed to be breast cancer,50 cases with benign disease. The sensitivity, specificity and the accuracy rate of multimode ultrasound were 98.9%,72%,and 89.5,respectively.The area under ROC curve of multimode ultrasound in the diagnosis of breast lesions was 0.902(95%CI:0.848~0.957,P<0.001).In 143 breast lesions, patients with fatty breast and dense breast were 21(14.7%),122(85.3%),respectively.There was no sensitivity difference between fatty breast group and dense breast group. In 143 breast lesions, patients younger than 40 years and older than 40 years were 40(28.0%),103(72.0%)cases respectively. There was also no sensitivity difference between the age groups. Conclusion: Multimode ultrasound shows a good diagnostic value for breast lesions, and not affected by age and breast density. For women younger than 40 years or with dense breast, multimode ultrasound is a preferred method.
