Effects Of Acupunture On Lingtai And Shendao On Heart Rate Variability In Patients With Diabetic Cardiac Autonomic Neuropathy

Objective: The present thesis aimed at evaluating whether manual penetrating of Lingtai(DU10)and Shendao(DU11)has an effect on the cardiac autonomic nervous system response in patients with Diabetic Cardiovascular Autonomic Neuropathy and monitoring instantaneous parameter changes in frequency domain Heart Rate Variability in short term(5 min)which includes Low Frequency(LF),Hign Frequency(HF)and Ratio between LF and HF(LF/HF).Also,compared with a control group inserting Juegu(GB39),we intended to discover whether the acupoints of Lingtai and Shendao have relative specificity in adjusting HRV in DCAN.Method: Fifty patients with DCAN were randomly divided into two groups and received only one acupuncture treatment session of identical duration.For observation group,Lingtai and Shendao are chosen as the stimulation points and patients in control group were accepting penetrating bilateral Juegu points instead.Heart rate variability parameters(LF,HF and LF/HF)were measured before,during and after intervention..Result: It was showed by t-test that there was statistical significance of LF and HF in observation group before/during as well as during/after treatment except the variation of LF/HF ratio in before/during session.However,there was no significant difference in control group in any variation.There was also no statistical significance between two groups before treatment which means that the baseline is comparable.During the treatment,there was no significant change of LF,HF and LF/HF.After the treatment,there was statistical significance of LF and LF/HF between both groups,and there was statistical significance difference in HF between observation group and control group.Conclusion:1.Manual stimulation of Lingtai and Shendao increases LF?HF and reduces LF/HF in patients with DCAN,which means that these two points have special effect on improving autonomic nerves activity and adjusting the balance of sympathetic nerves and vagus nerves.2.The changes of HRV were immense in observation group than that in the control group,which showed relatively specific effect of Lingtai and Shendao on HRV in patients with DCAN.
